Is the 2018 Nissan Armada a good car?

Drivers consistently praise the spacious cabin, smooth ride, and luxury feel, and they also like the broad feature set. For families and road trips, that combination makes the Armada especially appealing. The main tradeoffs are fuel economy and road noise, especially at lower speeds.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on spaciousness, comfort, and features. The expert notes also emphasize that the Armada is built to handle family hauling, towing, and daily use with confidence. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that fuel costs and cabin noise may remain part of the experience even if the vehicle itself is otherwise well liked.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the vehicle was used hard for towing or family duty. Because this SUV is large and feature-rich, you’ll also want to confirm that the electronics, cameras, and power accessories work properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SV trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect, parking sensors front and rear, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, navigation, auto LEDs, roof rails, running boards, keyless entry and ignition, and a rear-view camera. The SL adds a 360-degree top-down camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, auto wipers, and 20-inch wheels. The Platinum adds ventilated front seats, a rear entertainment system with dual 7-inch monitors, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror.
• Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The setup delivers strong power and towing ability, but fuel economy is a weak point, and AWD trims give up 1 mpg in every column.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV cannot access most of the safety features, and lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum.
• Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen with HD Radio and NissanConnect, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are omitted. OTA capability is not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, 14 mpg city, and 19 mpg highway in FWD form, and AWD trims lose 1 mpg across the board.

Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?

The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SV: This is the entry point, but it still brings a lot of equipment, including the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bose audio, parking sensors, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the more advanced safety and convenience features.
• SL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, auto wipers, and the safety-focused Technology Package. If you want the strongest balance of comfort, tech, and safety, this is the one to target.
• Platinum: This is the luxury pick, adding ventilated front seats, rear-seat entertainment, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror. Choose this if you want the most upscale Armada experience and the most advanced feature set.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the SL with the Tech Package is the recommended starting point for safety, while the base SV misses most of those features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 977 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,644, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?

The current average of $15,651 sits slightly below last year's $18,213.

That decline suggests the Armada has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale upside may be more limited unless the vehicle is especially clean, well maintained, and well equipped. The strongest examples will likely be the ones with desirable trims and a clean history, since those tend to draw more attention in a crowded market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and thankfully that’s a path with a $300 discount this year, as long as you were planning on a moonroof already. The package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. Base SV trims miss most of those features, and lane-departure warning plus the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum.

Braking performance is strong, with every Armada capable of stopping from 60 mph in 115 feet. That said, the expert notes also flag the Armada’s large blind spots, which makes the available driver-assistance tech especially important.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan added extra standard technology and made the Armada feel more upscale for this year.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,476, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,651 average.
• It offers a more comfort-focused cabin with upgraded materials, acoustic glass, and strong sound insulation.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, more polished version, the 2018 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you value comfort over newer tech, the 2017 is the better budget alternative.
