Is the 2018 Nissan Armada a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

You get a spacious cabin, a smooth ride, and a luxury feel that makes it appealing for families and road trips. Reviewers also consistently point to the Armada’s feature-rich setup and roomy interior, which fit its use case as a large SUV for everyday family duty and longer-distance travel. Even so, the market still reflects a selective buyer’s environment, with 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as spacious, smooth-riding, and feature-rich, and those are the kinds of traits that usually support dependable day-to-day ownership. The expert notes also emphasize that the Armada is built to handle family hauling and road trips with a polished feel, while still delivering strong performance from its V8. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that fuel economy and infotainment age may become ongoing frustrations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you want. Because this is a large SUV, it also makes sense to pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and safety equipment have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SV brings an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect, parking sensors, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, navigation, and a rear-view camera, while the SL adds a 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory, and auto wipers. The Platinum adds ventilated front seats, a rear entertainment system, and more safety equipment, so the base trim is the one most likely to feel light on advanced features.
• Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive versions are rated at 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway, and all-wheel drive reduces efficiency further.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV cannot access most of the safety features, and lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum.
• Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are omitted. OTA capability is not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, with 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway for rear-wheel drive.

Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?

The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SV: This is the entry point, and it already gives you a lot of standard equipment, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bose audio, navigation, parking sensors, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point, but it is also the trim most limited in safety content.
• SL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory, and auto wipers. If you want a more complete luxury feel without jumping all the way to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Platinum: This is the most upscale version, with ventilated front seats, rear-seat entertainment, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror. Choose it if you want the most features and the strongest safety content.

The safety package starts with the SL and Tech Package, while the base SV misses most of the advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 969 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,636, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?

The current average of $15,699 sits slightly below last year's $17,915.

That price movement suggests the Armada has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers avoid the steepest early drop. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss. The market still rewards models with strong owner satisfaction, and this one’s 4.6/5 rating supports demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?

The 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and thankfully that’s a path with a $300 discount this year, as long as you were planning on a moonroof already. It’s a shame that the base SV trim can’t access most of the safety features and that lane-departure warning and avoidance and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror only come with the Platinum as well—a vehicle this big and burdensome shouldn’t be handicapped when it comes to available safety.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan added extra standard technology and made the Armada feel more upscale this year.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,105, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,699 average.
• It offers a redesigned cabin with a more comfortable, refined feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the better-equipped, more polished version and can take advantage of the softer pricing. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the better value play.
