Is the 2018 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Nissan Altima earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, smooth ride, good fuel economy, and roomy trunk, and the model’s value-focused setup makes it appealing if you want practical daily transportation. With 27.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to dependable everyday use, with praise for the car’s smooth ride and fuel economy. At the same time, some reviews mention transmission concerns and maintenance-related issues, so you should treat reliability as something to verify carefully on any used example. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been poorly maintained or already showing wear in key mechanical areas.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks promising. Focus on condition details that matter most on a used sedan: maintenance records, transmission behavior, signs of prior body repair, and evidence of careful ownership. Because some owners reported cleanliness and maintenance concerns, it is worth being especially picky about how the car was kept and serviced.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,023 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,590, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $10,891 sits slightly below last year's $11,366.

That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can limit how much value you recover later if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to resell, you should be especially careful about purchase price, condition, and maintenance history because those factors will matter more when the market is already trending down. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,554, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $10,891 average.
• It brings a major redesign with a more upscale cabin and more polished tech.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2018 is the smarter starting point because it is cheaper and still well liked by owners. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer-generation Altima with a more modern feel, the 2019 is the better upgrade path; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2018 and shop for a clean, well-maintained example.
