Used 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander for Sale nearNew York, NY

How much does the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander cost?

Prices have softened 6.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 290 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The Outlander’s appeal is that it prioritizes current tech and safety features over polish. It is not positioned as a class leader, and it rides on an older platform, but it still tries to stay relevant with the latest driver-assistance and infotainment technology. That makes it a sensible fit if you care more about smartphone integration and safety equipment than interior refinement or ride quality.

30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outlander’s reliability story is helped by its straightforward gasoline powertrain and the fact that Mitsubishi backs it with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that leans on proven, if not especially exciting, mechanicals rather than cutting-edge complexity. Its age shows in the platform and some driving manners, but that does not automatically make it a poor ownership bet.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about novelty and more about condition: you want to make sure the vehicle has been maintained well and that any wear from age or mileage is caught before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander?

At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the features you care about are working properly. Because this model’s appeal is tied so closely to equipment and value, you want to make sure the specific car you choose still delivers on both.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base ES comes with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a 7-inch touch screen display, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, remote keyless entry, and dual-zone climate control. The SE adds fog lights, color-keyed side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a power sunroof, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LE adds black exterior accents, power-folding side mirrors, black roof rails, black-painted wheels, a black headliner and pillars, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The SEL adds rain-sensing wipers, auto on-off headlights, chrome exterior accents, silver roof rails, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, a power liftgate, leather seating, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The GT adds LED headlights, LED fog lights, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a power sunroof.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The GT uses a 3.0-liter V6 with 224 hp and 215 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. The four-cylinder setup is described as underpowered, and the V6 is the stronger choice if you want more passing power.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include a reversing camera, a full array of airbags, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and active stability control. The SEL Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The GT Touring package adds the same driver-assistance features. The safety content also notes that these advanced features are tied to the Touring package rather than every trim.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system includes a 7-inch touch screen display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The tech setup is one of the Outlander’s biggest strengths, especially if you want smartphone integration in a value-oriented SUV.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine with front-wheel drive is rated at 25 mpg city, 30 highway, and 27 combined. The all-wheel-drive version is rated one mpg lower in each category. The GT with the V6 is estimated at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined.

Which 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander trim should I buy?

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in 5 trim levels: ES, SE, LE, SEL, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• ES: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Outlander experience at the lowest price. You get the basics you need, but if you want Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or more comfort and convenience features, you will need to move up.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the features that most directly improve daily use, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated front seats, a power sunroof, fog lights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
• LE: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and added safety tech. It brings blacked-out exterior details, power-folding mirrors, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• SEL: This is the more upscale choice, with leather seating, a power liftgate, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, rain-sensing wipers, and auto on-off headlights. It is a good fit if you want a more premium-feeling Outlander without jumping to the top trim.
• GT: Pick this if you want the strongest engine and the most upscale standard equipment. The V6, paddle shifters, LED lighting, and standard sunroof make it the most fully equipped version.

The Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams, so it is worth seeking out if safety tech matters most to you.

What is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander’s resale value?

The current average of $10,994 sits slightly below last year's $11,753.

That decline suggests the Outlander has been losing value at a steady pace, which is good news if you are buying but less favorable if you are planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing should stay competitive if you want to move the vehicle quickly. The model’s value proposition is strongest when its tech and safety features are intact and clearly documented.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The available Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. If you want the most advanced driver-assistance features, you should look for a trim equipped with that package.

Should I buy a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for pairing older underpinnings with current tech and safety features, which makes it appealing if you value smartphone integration and driver assistance more than refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the Outlander’s value-focused mix of tech, safety, and available three-row practicality, the 2018 is a reasonable buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also shop carefully for the best-equipped example rather than chasing the newest one, since the strongest appeal here comes from features and condition more than model-year freshness.
