How much does the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 7.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,113 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert score is 8/10. The 2018 Santa Fe is framed as a bargain-minded family-size crossover that emphasizes safety, roominess, and dependability, with a practical, safe, and spacious setup for shoppers who care more about sensible ownership than flash.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Its appeal is strongest if you want a family-friendly SUV that feels reassuring and useful rather than exciting. The expert review also highlights that it is one of the safest SUVs you can buy, and that it delivers a lot of value for the money.

33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is meaningful room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The expert review describes it as dependable, and the cost-effectiveness commentary reinforces that value is a core trait of this Santa Fe.

It also benefits from Hyundai’s warranty and roadside-assistance programs, plus three free years of Blue Link services, which can make ownership feel more reassuring. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear can start to matter more, so condition and maintenance history deserve close attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and how the safety and convenience features operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is well equipped right out of the box, with stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats and a Clean Air cabin air filtration system. The SE Ultimate adds bigger wheels and tires, navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The Limited Ultimate adds HID headlights that aim around curves and corners, LED taillights, second-row captain’s chairs, and silver trim on the doors.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.3-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is described as refined and strong enough for the Santa Fe’s size, while Eco mode can make it feel lethargic.
• Safety package: Hyundai offers driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, and Blue Link adds automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and safe teen driving settings for speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries. The review notes that adaptive cruise control could be refined and that the lane-departure warning is audible rather than tactile.
• Infotainment: The Santa Fe uses an 8-inch display screen, includes a CD player, and supports navigation. It also has three free years of Blue Link subscription services, plus an Infinity premium sound system with Clari-Fi digital music restoration technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review reports 20 mpg on a test loop, matching the EPA’s combined estimate.

Which 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SE Ultimate, and Limited Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want a well-equipped SUV. It includes the practical basics and family-friendly touches like stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats and a Clean Air cabin air filtration system.
• SE Ultimate: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a long list of comfort and convenience upgrades, including navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
• Limited Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most upscale-feeling version, with HID headlights that aim around corners, LED taillights, and second-row captain’s chairs.

The safety content notes that Hyundai offers all of the driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems on the Santa Fe, so feature availability can vary by trim and package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,113 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,274, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,535 sits slightly below last year's $15,786.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. The Santa Fe’s value-oriented reputation also helps it remain appealing to shoppers who want a practical family SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a Top Safety Pick Plus award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai’s safety suite includes automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and safe teen driving settings tied to speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries. The review also says the Santa Fe comes with all of Hyundai’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems for this model, though adaptive cruise control and the lane-departure warning could be better refined.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out as one of the safest SUVs you can buy and a raging bargain in its segment.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $14,852, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,535 average.
• It moves to a smaller, more compact-to-midsize crossover size with broader everyday appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest value and a proven safety-focused family SUV, the 2018 is the better buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-generation feel and a different size profile, the 2019 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 remains the smarter path.
