How much does the 2018 Hyundai Accent cost?

Prices have softened 4.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 266 listings available, which gives you a modest pool to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Accent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

It stands out as one of the most affordable cars on the market, and the overview makes clear that you’re getting stylish design, desirable options, and a traditional three-box sedan layout for the money. The expert notes also point to a simple, straightforward interior and a car that’s easy to live with if you want a low-cost new-car alternative.

25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a 10-year powertrain warranty, which is a major ownership advantage if you want extra peace of mind. The expert notes also describe the engine as retuned for better efficiency and more power at city speeds, and the car is presented as a sensible, affordable choice for buyers who want a new-car warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the car has been maintained properly, since warranty coverage and condition matter a lot once you’re outside the original new-car purchase window.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Hyundai Accent?

At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing cars at the lower end of the price range. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you think you’re buying.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level SE comes with steel wheels, while the SEL drops the chrome trim and 17-inch alloys that appear on the Limited. You’ll want to confirm which appearance and convenience features are actually present, since the base trim is the most stripped-down version.
• Powertrain: The Accent uses a 130-hp, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. Hyundai says it was retuned for better efficiency and more power at city speeds, and the car is described as pleasant around town with decent low-speed acceleration.
• Safety package: Automatic emergency braking is available only on the Limited, so you should verify whether a car has that feature if it matters to you.
• Infotainment: Bluetooth and a reversing camera are standard on every Accent. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only on the SEL and Limited trims, and those features are bundled rather than sold separately.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert reports about 29 mpg in combined driving, and the car is described as rated at 32 mpg by EPA estimates.

Which 2018 Hyundai Accent trim should I buy?

The 2018 Hyundai Accent is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the simplest version, with steel wheels and the fewest convenience features. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the extra comfort items found higher up.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus automatic headlights, a telescoping steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and rear disc brakes. If you want the most useful everyday upgrades without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This trim adds the most comfort and convenience, including a power sunroof, proximity key with push-button start, heated seats, and automatic climate control. It also gets the available automatic emergency braking feature, so it’s the trim to consider if you want the most equipment.

Automatic emergency braking is available only on the Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Accent?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,150, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Accent's resale value?

The current average of $9,385 sits slightly below last year's $9,822.

That kind of price movement suggests the Accent has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly entry point, but it also means future sellers may need to stay competitive on condition and equipment. If you’re buying now, a lower purchase price can help protect you from taking too much depreciation risk later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent safe?

It earns no crash-test rating from either IIHS or NHTSA in the available information.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says automatic emergency braking is the only available active safety feature, and it’s offered only on the Limited. That means you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you, since lower trims miss out on that feature.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Accent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its low starting price, stylish design, desirable options, and 10-year powertrain warranty.

The bottom line: If you want a small, affordable sedan with a strong warranty story and you’re comfortable shopping carefully for condition, the 2018 is a solid choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, compare it against other used cars in the same budget range, since the overview notes that similarly priced alternatives can also be strong values.
