Used 2018 Hyundai Accent for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2018 Hyundai Accent cost?

Prices have softened 9.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 273 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Accent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

It stands out as a small, affordable car with a starting price below $15,000, and it pairs that low cost with stylish design, desirable options, and a traditional three-box sedan layout. If you want basic transportation with a little more polish than the cheapest alternatives, that use case fits this model well.

29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Accent’s appeal is reinforced by its straightforward design, simple controls, and Hyundai’s 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Its engine was retuned for better efficiency and more power at city speeds, and the car is described as pleasant in around-town driving and comfortable on the highway.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been maintained well, since you’ll want that warranty-backed durability to translate into dependable service over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Hyundai Accent?

At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for prior damage, repair quality, and wear that may not show up in photos. Focus especially on overall condition and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level SE comes with steel wheels, while the SEL adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlights, a telescoping steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and rear disc brakes. The Limited adds a power sunroof, a proximity key with push-button start, heated seats, and automatic climate control.
• Powertrain: The Accent uses a sole 130-hp, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. Hyundai says it was retuned for better efficiency and more power at city speeds, and the optional 6-speed automatic can feel slow to respond.
• Safety package: Automatic emergency braking is the only available active safety feature, and it’s available only on the Limited.
• Infotainment: Bluetooth and a reversing camera are standard on every Accent. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only on the SEL and Limited trims.

Which 2018 Hyundai Accent trim should I buy?

The 2018 Hyundai Accent is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the least expensive way into the Accent, but it keeps things basic with steel wheels and fewer convenience features. It makes sense if you want the lowest purchase price and can live without the extra tech and comfort upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlights, a telescoping steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and rear disc brakes. If you want the most useful everyday upgrades without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This trim adds the most comfort and convenience equipment, including a power sunroof, proximity key with push-button start, heated seats, and automatic climate control. It’s the pick if you want the most fully equipped Accent.

Automatic emergency braking is available only on the Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Accent?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 273 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,094, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Accent's resale value?

The current average of $9,094 sits slightly below last year's $10,004.

That price movement suggests the Accent has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier for a future seller to attract interest at the right price. At the same time, the lower current average means you should expect resale value to reflect today’s softer market rather than last year’s higher benchmark.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Accent safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has crash-tested the new Accent. The only available active safety feature is automatic emergency braking, and that’s available only if you pay for the Limited.

That means you should pay close attention to trim choice if safety tech matters to you, since the feature list is limited and the available driver-assistance equipment is not broadly standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Accent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• With a starting price below $15,000, the 2018 Accent is one of the most affordable cars on the market, and it pairs that low cost with stylish design, desirable options, and a 10-year powertrain warranty.

The bottom line: If you want a small, affordable sedan with a straightforward layout and strong value, the 2018 Accent is a sensible choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-condition example you can find and prioritize the SEL if you want the most useful everyday features without stretching to the Limited.

How does the 2018 Hyundai Accent compare to the 2018 Honda Fit?

Our experts score the 2018 Hyundai Accent 7.2/10 and the 2018 Honda Fit 7.7/10.

The Accent is the cheaper buy by a wide margin, which makes it the stronger value play if your priority is keeping upfront cost low. The Fit counters with better fuel economy, more listings, and a larger interior, so it makes more sense if you want more space and efficiency. If you want a traditional sedan shape and a lower used price, the Accent is the easier fit; if you want the more versatile small car, the Honda is the stronger all-around pick.
