Is the 2018 Honda Fit reliable?

The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Fit as a complete, well-rounded daily driver that gives up neither content nor quality for the price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Fit?

At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because the Fit is often used as a practical daily driver, condition matters a lot: focus on how well the cabin, controls, and cargo area have held up, and make sure the car’s equipment matches the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while the Sport adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a 6-speaker stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The EX adds push-button start, cargo tie-downs, SiriusXM satellite radio, telescoping sun visors, and SmartLock, while the EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated body-color side mirrors, and integrated turn signals. If you want the best mix of features and value, the EX is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: The Fit uses a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. The manual makes 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, while the CVT makes 128 hp and 113 lb-ft. It has enough pep around town, and the CVT versions add steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on Sport, EX, and EX-L models.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L and available on the LX and Sport with the CVT. It includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, and road-departure mitigation.
• Infotainment: Sport, EX, and EX-L trims get a 7-inch touchscreen. Every model but the LX comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system also supports navigation on the EX-L.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6-speed manual returns 29 mpg city, 36 highway, 31 combined, while the CVT is rated at 33 city, 40 highway, 36 combined.

Which 2018 Honda Fit trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Fit is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-first choice if you want the lowest entry point, but it is also the most basic trim. It still includes power locks, power windows, air conditioning, a power moonroof, Bluetooth, and a USB port, so it covers the essentials well.
• Sport: This trim adds the most noticeable style and cabin upgrades, including 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a 6-speaker stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a 7-inch touchscreen. It is a good pick if you want a more polished feel without jumping to the top of the range.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds push-button start, cargo tie-downs, SiriusXM satellite radio, telescoping sun visors, and SmartLock. It also gets Honda Sensing as standard equipment, which makes it the sweet spot for features and safety.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused Fit, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated body-color side mirrors, and integrated turn signals. It is the most upscale version, but you are paying for convenience and comfort rather than a major change in the Fit’s core character.

Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L, and available on the LX and Sport only with the CVT.

What is the 2018 Honda Fit's resale value?

The current average of $15,006 sits slightly above last year's $14,596.

That upward move suggests the Fit continues to hold buyer interest, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. The model’s combination of practicality, fuel economy, and strong owner satisfaction helps support demand in the used market.

Because prices are already running above last year’s level, a well-kept Fit should remain relatively easy to move if you keep mileage, condition, and maintenance history in good shape.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Fit safe?

The 2018 Honda Fit earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, and road-departure mitigation. It is standard on the EX and EX-L, and available on the LX and Sport only with the CVT.

The Fit also includes standard front- and side-impact airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a reversing camera with multiple angles and guide-lines that turn with the steering wheel. The available LaneWatch system adds a camera view of the right-side blind spot when you signal right.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Fit or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.80% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 update brings more advanced safety features, an updated suspension for sharper handling, and the return of a Sport trim.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the right pick if you want the refreshed Fit with strong practicality, good safety content, and broad everyday appeal. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping the market closely and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example you can find, since accident history and condition matter a lot in this segment.
