With 3,812 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,243.00, 30.0% of 2018 GMC Sierras for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 4.44 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 stands out as a full-size pickup that was kept relevant with more standard content and safety features just before a redesign. GMC also made the reversing camera and the previously optional infotainment system standard equipment, which gives this truck a stronger value story than its age might suggest.
That added equipment helps the Sierra 1500 appeal to buyers who want a truck that feels more modern and easier to live with. Owner feedback also points to a smooth ride, a luxurious feel, and a comfortable interior, along with praise for its power and fuel efficiency. At the same time, some owners mentioned missing features such as backseat vents and basic safety options, and a few raised concerns about engine performance and transmission issues.

2018 GMC Sierra. Simply the best driving & riding truck I have ever owned. The magnetic ride sets it apart and was the reason I purchased a 2018 vs the newer body style without it. It’s also the reason I choose it over similar Ford and Dodge trucks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 GMC Sierra 1500?
At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of prior repair. After that, focus on how the truck drives, how the transmission behaves, and whether the cabin and equipment match the listing description.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base truck comes standard with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a 6-speaker stereo, power locks, a power tailgate, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The SLE adds satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch screen, while the SLT adds leather seating, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and the 5.3-liter V8. The Enhanced Driver Alert Package adds forward-collision alert, automatic high-beam control, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and the Safety Alert seat; it is available on the SLE and SLT and standard on the Denali.

- Inventory: There are 3,937 listings available.

What is the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?
The current average of $26,300 sits slightly below last year's $28,535.
That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the good news is that the Sierra 1500 still has broad appeal thanks to its comfort, capability, and upscale image.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Sierra 1500 comes standard with a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, six airbags, StabiliTrak stability control, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and Easy Fill Alert. The Enhanced Driver Alert Package adds forward-collision alert, automatic high-beam control, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and the Safety Alert seat.
That package is available on the SLE and SLT and standard on the Denali, so safety equipment improves as you move up the lineup. For used buyers, that makes trim selection especially important if driver-assistance features matter to you.
Should I buy a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Expert testing highlights standard infotainment and safety upgrades that make this year feel more modern.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $31,364, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $26,300 average.
- The redesign makes it bigger, more capable, and more useful.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2018 is the smarter buy because it combines softer pricing with strong owner satisfaction and meaningful standard equipment. If you want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more, the 2019 is the cleaner upgrade path; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2018 and shop for a well-kept example with the right safety package.
