How much does the 2018 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,856 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 user-rated car with an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the Mustang’s power, sporty design, and enjoyable driving experience. Fast acceleration and a smooth ride are recurring positives, and the convertible version is especially appealing if you want open-air leisure driving. In the context of a car that aims to blur the line between mainstream and premium, muscle and sports-car territory, that mix makes sense.

You also get a car that feels fun and stylish rather than purely practical, which fits the Mustang’s role as a performance-focused daily driver or weekend car. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful market value to be found.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts: strong power delivery, enjoyable driving, and a smooth ride that keeps the car feeling composed. The same feedback also describes it as affordable, which matters if you want a performance car you can realistically live with over time.

The expert review also emphasizes that the Mustang’s performance character is backed by a sophisticated chassis and drivetrain setup, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for properly, since condition and maintenance history matter a lot in a performance model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a car with performance options or a convertible body style. Pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and any evidence that the car has been driven hard or modified. Because this model is often bought for its performance, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT Premium coupe shown here adds higher-quality interior materials, exposed contrast stitching, and aluminum carbon-pattern trim, while the base cabin is more plain by comparison. If you want a more upscale feel, the Premium trim is the one to target.
• Powertrain: The car is offered with a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine or a V8 GT setup, and the GT’s performance-focused hardware includes a 10-speed automatic option, launch control, and a drag strip driving mode.
• Safety package: The car includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The lane-keeping assist can detract from driving enjoyment, and the IIHS small-overlap frontal result is only Acceptable.
• Infotainment: You get a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, Sync 3 infotainment, Ford Sync Connect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT is rated at 19 mpg in combined driving, and the EcoBoost Performance Package is positioned as the value-oriented choice if you want strong fun without V8 fuel use.

Which 2018 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost and GT.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the best-value choice if you want the Mustang experience with lower running costs. The review says the real value is found in the EcoBoost, and it still gives you plenty of visual attitude and strong everyday fun.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V8 character and the more serious performance hardware. The GT adds the stronger engine, and the review makes clear that this is the version for buyers who care most about outright speed and driving thrills.

The safety package is broad, but the lane-keeping assist system can be annoying enough that you may want to switch it off.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and wait for the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,856 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $22,408 sits slightly above last year's $22,274.

That small increase suggests the Mustang has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that remains comfortable with this model year’s pricing.

The steady trend also means you’re less likely to face a sudden drop in value if you buy at the right price and keep the car in good condition. Strong enthusiast demand helps support that, especially for a car with a clear performance identity.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2018 Ford Mustang earns an Acceptable rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection and Good ratings in other crash-test assessments, while the federal government gives it a five-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The car includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. Those systems are calibrated for performance driving, but the lane-keeping assist can get in the way of enjoyment, so you may want to disable it when you’re driving spiritedly.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 update brings substantial mechanical and technological improvements, plus a more sophisticated take on the Mustang formula.

The bottom line: If you want a Mustang that feels more refined and more capable than earlier versions, the 2018 is the one to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still find value in the market, but you should be selective and prioritize condition, history, and the right trim for your needs.
