Owners consistently praise its sporty performance, smooth ride, stylish design, tech features, and spacious interior. The available maintenance perk helps lower early ownership friction, which is useful if you want a used car that feels easier to live with.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Charger?

At 48.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because the Charger’s appeal depends heavily on performance and presentation, you’ll want to focus on how well the car has been maintained and whether wear matches the mileage. If you’re comparing multiple listings, condition should matter as much as price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT is the entry point and comes with 17-inch aluminum wheels, dual stainless-steel exhaust, push-button start, a 6-way power driver’s seat, dual USB ports, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SXT Plus adds fog lamps, heated power mirrors, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a six-speaker premium stereo. The GT adds all-wheel drive, a Gloss Black front fascia, 19-inch wheels, and a flat-bottom performance steering wheel with paddle shifters. The GT Plus adds heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. The R/T brings V8 power, a sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, and active exhaust. The R/T with Scat Pack adds the 6.4-liter V8, cloth performance seats, and Brembo brakes. The Daytona adds a Mopar cold air intake, three-mode stability control, performance suspension, heavy-duty disc brakes, and unique visual upgrades. The Daytona 392 upgrades to the 392-cubic-inch V8. The SRT 392 adds red Brembo calipers, high-performance active damping suspension, and unique SRT interior touches. The Hellcat sits at the top with the most potent engine in the lineup.

• Powertrain: The SXT, SXT Plus, GT, and GT Plus use a 3.6-liter V6 with 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque through an 8-speed automatic. GT trims and SXT trims with the Super Track Pak rise to 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet. The R/T and Daytona use a 5.7-liter V8 with 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet. The R/T Scat Pack, Daytona 392, and SRT 392 use a 6.4-liter V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft. The Hellcat uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 707 hp and 650 lb-ft. AWD adds traction and helps in winter driving.

• Safety package: The Charger includes a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, front- and side-impact airbags, active head restraints, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-path detection is available, and the Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. Some of these features are optional rather than standard.

• Infotainment: The SXT gets a 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Every other trim gets the larger 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen. The system is designed for simple navigation through menus, and the larger screen adds a more tablet-like layout.

• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient Charger is the RWD V6, which returns 19 mpg city, 30 highway, 23 combined. The AWD V6 setup returns 18 mpg city, 27 highway, 21 combined. The least-efficient version is the Hellcat at 13 mpg city, 22 highway, 16 combined. The R/T returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined.

Which 2018 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2018 Dodge Charger is offered in 10 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, GT, GT Plus, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, Daytona, Daytona 392, SRT 392, Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the value starting point if you want the Charger’s core personality without moving up the price ladder. You still get the 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the standard comfort and convenience features that make it easy to live with. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup.

• SXT Plus: Choose this if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping to AWD or V8 power. The added fog lamps, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and upgraded audio make it feel more complete than the SXT. This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort without a huge leap in complexity.

• GT: This is the trim to buy if you want all-wheel drive and a more distinctive look. It adds AWD, 19-inch wheels, a blacked-out front fascia, and paddle shifters, making it the most practical choice for buyers who want extra traction and a sportier feel.

• GT Plus: Pick this if you want the GT’s AWD plus more comfort features. Heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel make it a stronger cold-weather and long-distance choice, especially if you want the Charger to feel more upscale.

• R/T: This is the entry point for V8 power and the right choice if sound and straight-line character matter most. The sport suspension, active exhaust, and 20-inch wheels give it the muscle-sedan feel many shoppers want from a Charger.

• R/T Scat Pack: This is the performance pick if you want the strongest value in the V8 lineup. The 6.4-liter engine, Brembo brakes, and performance seats make it the most compelling step up for buyers who care most about speed and braking hardware.

• Daytona: Choose this if you want the R/T’s V8 character with extra performance tuning and a more distinctive appearance. The performance suspension, cold air intake, and unique styling details make it a more specialized enthusiast choice.

• Daytona 392: This is for buyers who want the Daytona formula with the stronger 6.4-liter engine. It combines the visual and chassis upgrades with more serious power.

• SRT 392: This is the more focused performance trim, with high-performance damping, red Brembo calipers, and unique SRT touches. It suits you if you want a more serious driver’s car feel.

• Hellcat: This is the top-end choice if maximum power is your priority. It’s the most extreme Charger in the lineup and makes sense only if you want the full high-performance experience.

The safety package is strongest on trims equipped with the Technology Group, since several advanced driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 23.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,534 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,508, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $18,827 sits slightly below last year's $19,839.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition, because condition will matter more when the market is already softening. A well-kept Charger should still attract interest from shoppers who want its distinctive muscle-sedan character.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Dodge Charger safe?

The 2018 Dodge Charger does not have a crash-test rating cited here.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Dodge makes a reversing camera and rear parking sensors standard across the lineup, along with front- and side-impact airbags, active head restraints, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-path detection is available, and the Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. Because some advanced safety features are optional, you should check whether a used listing includes the package you want.

Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 23.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends rear-wheel-drive muscle-sedan character with modern infotainment and available all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $18,131, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,827 average.
• It stands out as a bold, attention-grabbing 4-door muscle car.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, inventory, and the Charger’s distinctive personality, the 2018 is the stronger default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is worth a look, especially if you find one in strong condition.
