Used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 9.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,728 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — with a 4.73/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse lands as a strong choice for used SUV shoppers. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfortable ride, and impressive cargo space, and they also highlight the value for money. That lines up well with the Traverse’s role as a three-row crossover that’s meant to give you family-friendly space and everyday usability. The model’s broad appeal is reinforced by its roomy packaging and useful feature set, even if some drivers wish it had more power for towing.

With 31.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to find a competitive example.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable in daily family use, with repeated praise for comfort, space, and value. The expert review also describes the Traverse as a well-built, easy-to-live-with three-row SUV with solidly affixed cabin materials and a refined V6. On the cost side, the model’s value proposition is strengthened by its broad feature set for the money.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you choose a well-maintained example, since higher-mileage family SUVs can vary a lot in wear and tear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage family hauler. Pay close attention to signs of prior body damage, interior wear, and how well the drivetrain and brakes feel on a test drive. Because this model is often used for family duty, condition can vary a lot from one listing to the next.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims are described as fairly basic, while the LT is called out as the minimum trim worth considering for better color choices, a nicer appearance, and access to blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and more equipment.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic. A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque is offered only in the RS and sends power to the front wheels.
• Safety package: The Traverse includes Rear Seat Reminder and is available with modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are reserved for the pricier Premier and High Country trims, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires at least the LT.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar services, and Teen Driver technology. Leather-seat versions add an 8-inch display, and Premier and High Country trims include a wireless device charger.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes 20.6 mpg on a testing loop, better than the EPA’s estimate of 20 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT with cloth seats, LT with leather seats, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the review makes clear that lower trims are fairly basic. It makes sense only if you want the lowest possible price and are comfortable giving up a lot of convenience and safety content.
• LS: A sensible step up if you want the Traverse’s core space and family usefulness without chasing luxury features. It’s still value-oriented, but it remains more stripped down than the better-equipped trims.
• LT with cloth seats: This is the best-value trim to target. The review specifically says you’ll probably want the LT at a minimum because it looks nicer, gives you more color choices, and unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert when equipped with the right package.
• LT with leather seats: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and the added tech that comes with leather seating, including the larger 8-inch MyLink display, navigation, and the Bose audio system.
• RS: This is the one to consider if you want the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. It’s the only trim with that setup, so it suits you best if you value a different powertrain over the standard V6.
• Premier: This is the trim to target if you want the advanced safety features that are not available on lower trims, including forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
• High Country: This is the most fully equipped version, with standard AWD and the most upscale presentation. It’s the right pick if you want the top-end Traverse experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package cutoff is important here: the most desirable driver-assistance features are not standard on the lower trims, so if those matter to you, shop Premier or High Country.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,728 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,206, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $15,220 sits slightly below last year's $16,811.

That price movement suggests the Traverse has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a later seller, that means your biggest protection is entering ownership with a well-bought example rather than paying too close to the top of the market. A clean history and strong condition should matter more than chasing a higher trim just for the badge.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was not yet rated by either NHTSA or IIHS at the time of the review.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet includes Rear Seat Reminder as standard, which is a useful family-focused safety feature. The Traverse is also available with modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, but the most important active-safety features are not spread evenly across the lineup. Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist require the pricier Premier or High Country trims, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires at least the LT with the appropriate package.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 redesign gives you a larger, more useful, and more efficient Traverse with strong tech and family-friendly packaging.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the right pick if you want the redesigned Traverse’s better space, stronger tech, and improved overall package. If you’re shopping strictly for the lowest price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018’s redesign makes it the more compelling choice for most buyers who want a modern three-row SUV with broad appeal.
