How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

There are 2,569 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — your 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating both point to a strong overall package. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10. Owners repeatedly praise the spacious cabin, comfort, and impressive cargo space, and they also call out the smooth ride and useful rearview camera. In use-case terms, this is a family-friendly three-row SUV that fits buyers who want room, practicality, and value without stepping up to a larger, pricier SUV. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, practicality, and value for money. The Traverse’s performance notes emphasize refined power delivery and a drivetrain that handles daily use with confidence, which supports the impression that it’s built to be counted on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is not a glaring mechanical red flag so much as making sure you choose a well-kept example with a clean history and solid maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect for the trim. Because lower trims are described as quite basic, it’s worth checking whether the features you want are actually present before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims are described as quite basic, while the LT is called out as the minimum trim worth considering if you want a nicer cabin and more than just accessory packages and dealer upgrades.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic, while the RS gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and front-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: The Traverse includes Rear Seat Reminder, but forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist require the pricier Premier or High Country trims.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar services, and Teen Driver technology; leather-seat versions add an 8-inch display and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returned 20.6 mpg on the test loop, and the review notes that it was better than the EPA’s estimate of 20 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT with cloth seats, LT with leather seats, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the review makes clear that lower trims are quite basic, so you should only choose it if price matters more than features.
• LS: A modest step up from the base model, but the content still points to the LT as the minimum trim that starts to feel worthwhile for most shoppers.
• LT with cloth seats: This is the best-value trim. It adds a nicer overall presentation and is the minimum trim needed for blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
• LT with leather seats: This is the better pick if you want a more upscale cabin, plus the larger 8-inch MyLink display and navigation.
• RS: Choose this only if you specifically want the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and front-wheel-drive setup.
• Premier: This is the trim to target if you want the advanced driver-assistance features that are unavailable on lower trims.
• High Country: This is the most fully equipped version, with standard AWD and the most upscale presentation in the lineup.

The safety-package features are not fully available until the Premier or High Country trims, so shoppers who want the most important driver-assistance tech should plan accordingly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shoppers.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,569 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,693, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $14,693 sits slightly below last year's $16,707.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than basic or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is available with modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, but the most important features are reserved for the pricier Premier and High Country trims. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Rear Seat Reminder is a useful family-focused feature, and the Traverse also offers blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert starting at the LT trim when equipped with the right package. Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist require Premier or High Country. That trim-level gap matters if you want the most complete safety tech without moving to the top of the lineup.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign makes this year a more modern, roomy, and efficient three-row SUV than the previous generation.

The bottom line: The 2018 Traverse is the right pick if you want the redesigned model’s bigger, more useful cabin and you’re comfortable shopping carefully for condition and equipment. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may still find value in nearby years, but the 2018’s redesign and strong owner satisfaction make it the more compelling target for most used buyers.

How does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse compare to the 2018 GMC Acadia?

Our experts score the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse 8/10 and the 2018 GMC Acadia 7.2/10.

The Traverse is the stronger choice if you want more space, more power, and a better overall value proposition. The Acadia is smaller and less powerful, but it does have a slightly lower starting price and better city fuel economy. If your priority is family hauling and cargo room, the Traverse is the more convincing pick; if you want a somewhat smaller crossover and can live with less muscle, the Acadia remains a reasonable alternative.
