How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,750 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners most often praise the Tahoe’s spaciousness, comfort, and powerful performance, and they also like its updated features. In practical terms, that lines up with the Tahoe’s appeal as a big SUV you buy for presence, family use, and the V8 experience rather than pure rationality. Even so, the market still shows 32.5% good or great deals, so there are opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially when they value comfort, space, and a strong powertrain. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Tahoe’s straightforward, usable character rather than complexity for its own sake. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is paying too much for a truck that may have been used hard or not maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Tahoe has been in an accident or has higher mileage. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and mechanicals match the seller’s description. Because this model is often bought for family duty and towing, it’s worth checking that the vehicle has been maintained with those uses in mind.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe’s styling is a major part of its appeal, and the Premier trim adds more upscale equipment than the lower trims. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, since some desirable comfort and convenience items are reserved for higher trims.
• Powertrain: The Tahoe offers a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and a 6-speed automatic, while the available 6.2-liter V8 adds more power and is paired with a 10-speed automatic. The bigger engine delivers stronger performance, but it also comes with premium-fuel recommendations and higher running costs.
• Safety package: Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses the MyLink system with an 8-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also includes physical knobs and buttons, plus available features like a head-up display and rear-seat entertainment.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 averaged 17 mpg on the test loop, and Chevrolet recommends premium fuel for that engine.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tahoe’s size, styling, and V8 character at the lowest starting price. It’s the trim to consider if you care more about the core Tahoe experience than extra luxury features.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it gives you a stronger mix of equipment and everyday usability without pushing you all the way to the top of the range. If you want the Tahoe to feel well equipped without overpaying, this is the trim to target.
• Premier: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Tahoe experience and the most available comfort and convenience content. It’s the right pick if you’re willing to pay more for a more premium-feeling family SUV.

Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and you can’t get it with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,750 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,756, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $21,756 sits slightly below last year's $25,262.

That decline suggests the Tahoe has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you’re planning to resell later, the current market shows that value can move meaningfully over time, so condition and mileage will matter a lot. A well-kept Tahoe should still attract interest because it remains a desirable full-size SUV with strong brand recognition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The Tahoe gets a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), while earning five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet provides blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist systems to all Tahoe buyers. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the bigger 6.2-liter V8. The Tahoe also includes Rear Seat Reminder and available Teen Driver technology through MyLink.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert take is that you should buy this Tahoe for its styling and V8 engine burble rather than for pure practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the Tahoe’s look, V8 character, and family-friendly presence, the 2018 is a sensible used choice because prices have eased and inventory is solid. If you’re mainly shopping on value, you should compare it carefully with other large SUVs and even crossovers, since the Tahoe’s emotional appeal is a big part of what you’re paying for.
