How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 12.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,712 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.27/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the Tahoe’s spaciousness, comfort, and powerful performance, and they also like its updated features. In the context of this model year, that lines up with the Tahoe’s appeal as a big SUV with presence rather than a purely practical people-mover. The market still shows 33.6% good or great deals, which suggests you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.27/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable and comfortable over time, with repeated praise for its spaciousness and strong performance. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that this Tahoe is built around a straightforward, familiar V8-driven formula, which can be reassuring if you want a truck-based SUV you can count on. Chevrolet also includes useful ownership-minded features such as Teen Driver technology and Rear Seat Reminder.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying a premium for a Tahoe that has seen hard use or has accident history, so condition and maintenance records matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Tahoe has been used as a family hauler or tow vehicle. Focus on signs of wear that can come with heavy use, and pay close attention to how the cabin, suspension, brakes, and electronics present in person. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the condition story supports the price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premier trim adds more upscale equipment, and the RST package gives the Tahoe a more aggressive look with 22-inch wheels, black bowtie badges, and Tungsten Metallic paint. The base trim is more straightforward, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want the best mix of value and equipment.
• Powertrain: The Tahoe offers a 5.3-liter V8 with a 6-speed automatic, while the available 6.2-liter V8 pairs with a 10-speed automatic and brings stronger performance. The bigger engine also comes with a noticeable fuel-cost tradeoff, so it makes the most sense if you want the extra power.
• Safety package: Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses the MyLink system with an 8-inch driver information center, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also has physical knobs and buttons for key functions, plus a hidden cubby behind the screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 averaged 17 mpg on the test loop, and Chevrolet recommends premium fuel for that engine.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes the Tahoe’s core formula available without pushing you into the pricier upper trims. It’s the trim to start with if you want the Tahoe’s size, V8 character, and family utility while keeping the purchase more grounded.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the top trim. If you want a Tahoe that feels more complete without chasing every luxury feature, this is the one to focus on first.
• Premier: This is the trim for you if you want the most upscale Tahoe experience and the most available equipment. It also unlocks adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking, though that feature cannot be paired with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.

If safety tech matters most, remember that adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is limited to Premier trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,712 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,251, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $22,251 sits slightly below last year's $25,476.

That price movement suggests the Tahoe has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to the higher prices seen a year ago. The key is to avoid overpaying for a rough example, because condition will matter a lot when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.27/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The Tahoe gets a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, while earning five-star ratings in the other NHTSA crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist as standard safety equipment. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is limited to Premier trim, so that’s a feature gap to keep in mind if you want the most advanced driver assistance. The Tahoe also includes Teen Driver technology and Rear Seat Reminder, both of which are useful for family use.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.27/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert take for this year is that you’re mostly buying the Tahoe for its styling and V8 character, with the RST 6.2L Performance Package singled out as the upgrade that best matches that personality.

The bottom line: If you want a Tahoe now, the 2018 is worth considering because prices have eased and there’s enough inventory to shop selectively. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should focus on the cleanest, best-documented example you can find rather than chasing the cheapest listing, since accident history is common enough to deserve extra scrutiny.
