How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

There are 1,606 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Owners consistently praise its powerful diesel performance, smooth ride, and comfort. They also highlight its fuel economy, reliability, and quality construction, along with useful amenities that make it feel more polished than many heavy-duty trucks.

If you want a capable HD truck that still feels reasonably modern inside, this model fits that use case well. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependable performance, and a truck that many drivers feel they can count on over time. That same feedback also ties reliability to quality construction and a generally trouble-free ownership experience.

For used buyers, that suggests the bigger risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific truck was maintained and used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 70.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and major repairs before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks that may have seen towing or heavy work use.

Focus your inspection on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and evidence that the truck was maintained consistently. A clean-looking listing can still hide hard use, so the truck’s history matters as much as its current appearance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,606 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $31,253 sits slightly below last year's $32,419.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For future sellers, the current trend means you should expect buyers to be price-aware and compare your truck closely against similarly equipped alternatives.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,252, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $31,253 average.
• It is built for heavy-duty work and adds job-site-focused features that make it especially practical for contractors.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the stronger all-around mix of owner satisfaction, market availability, and softened pricing. If your top priority is saving money and you value a more work-focused setup, the 2017 is the better budget-minded alternative.
