How much does the 2018 BMW X5 cost?

Is the 2018 BMW X5 a good car?

Generally — the 4.35/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers most often praise its comfort, smooth driving experience, and blend of luxury and utility, while also appreciating the technology, sporty handling, and performance. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a luxury midsize SUV that still emphasizes driving feel and everyday usefulness. With 39.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.35/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on comfort, smooth operation, and a trouble-free feel in day-to-day use. That said, some shoppers mention mileage and condition concerns on specific examples, so the best used purchase is one with clear maintenance history and strong documentation. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is more about the condition of the individual vehicle than the model name alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW X5?

At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or vehicles with incomplete service records. Focus your evaluation on overall condition, maintenance consistency, and signs of wear that could signal expensive ownership ahead.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 BMW X5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,675 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,378, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $17,378 sits slightly below last year's $19,971.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For resale, a lower purchase price can reduce your future depreciation exposure if you keep the vehicle in strong condition. The model’s broad appeal and luxury positioning should still support demand, especially for well-maintained examples with clean histories.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.35/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.35/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $24,901, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,378 average.
• It brings a redesigned interior with updated iDrive and Level 2 driver assistance.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and meaningful deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer redesign and updated cabin, the 2019 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize freshness over price.
