Acura first introduced the ILX sport sedan in 2013 as its entry-level model. Since then, the model underwent a significant facelift for 2016 and moved to a single drivetrain. Entering its sixth model year, the Acura ILX sees few changes for 2018.

All ILX models are powered by a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine and 8-speed dual-clutch automatic with standard paddle shifters. This engine is delivers 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the sole drivetrain option. For a starting price under $30,000, the ILX offers a tasteful exterior and an interior composed of quality materials at a competitive price. The base ILX includes 17-inch wheels, full LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless access with push-button start, and a 5-inch infotainment system. Acura offers appearance packages to further refine the ILX. New for 2018, the Special Edition Package, adds 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and side sills. The A-Spec Package upgrades the Special Edition Package to include simulated suede seats with contrasting stitching, red instrument panel illumination, and aluminum pedals.

Beyond that, the Premium Package comes with sport seats with perforated leather, driver memory settings, a 4-way power passenger seat, a 7-speaker audio system with Satellite Radio and Pandora compatibility. The Technology Package spices things up with a 10-speaker audio system, navigation, and voice recognition.

Every ILX comes equipped with a reversing camera, driver and passenger front and side airbags, and curtain airbags for all outboard occupants. The AcuraWatch Plus package adds a suite of assistance and intervention functions: adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and road departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are bundled with the Premium Package. The 2017 ILX was tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and received perfect scores in every category, with a rating of Superior for frontal collision avoidance, helping it earn the agency’s Top Safety Pick designation.

The ILX gives buyers a luxury sedan at an accessible price point, topping out well under $40,000.
