Is the 2017 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights dependable build quality, strong safety, and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That said, as a European luxury SUV, you should still plan for careful maintenance and verify service history before you buy.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that repair and upkeep costs can rise if the vehicle has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volvo XC90?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows luxury SUVs. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the interior and electronics match the seller’s description.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,106 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,128, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $15,128 sits slightly below last year's $17,681.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale a little more challenging if depreciation continues. If you buy at a strong price now and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you can help protect your eventual trade-in or private-sale value. Strong maintenance records matter even more in a luxury SUV, because buyers tend to reward well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $13,562, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,128 average.
• It offers an all-new design with strong safety and flexible seating.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market value story and broad shopper appeal. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the better budget-conscious alternative, especially if you find one with a clean history and solid maintenance records.
