Is the 2017 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Volvo S60 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a comfortable, safety-focused sedan with a distinctive Scandinavian character. The overview points to high-quality cabin materials, logical controls, and especially strong front seats, while also noting that the car’s core identity is rooted in comfort, style, and safety rather than outright sportiness. If you want a refined luxury sedan with a cohesive mechanical lineup and a restrained interior, this model year fits that brief well. 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview emphasizes Volvo’s strong safety reputation, standard City Safety, and best-in-class crash ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA, all of which reinforce confidence in the car’s underlying engineering. It also suggests a mature second-generation design with a cohesive mechanical identity and a well-regarded cabin, which can be reassuring for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about the car’s core concept and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volvo S60?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past repairs. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort and refinement, you should also focus on interior wear, seat condition, and how well the cabin has held up over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volvo S60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 258 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,925, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $11,939 sits slightly below last year's $12,930.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more attractive to you as a buyer but less favorable if you’re planning to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: a well-kept example will likely need to be positioned competitively to move quickly. The model’s strong safety reputation and distinctive cabin help support demand, but the recent price trend shows that buyers still have leverage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a smart choice if you want a well-rounded Volvo sedan with a strong safety reputation, a refined cabin, and a market price that has already come down. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge.
