Is the 2017 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 4.73/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. That lines up well with the Tundra’s use case as a straightforward, work-ready full-size pickup with a reputation for long-term value. Is the 2017 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes reliability, and it also points to a truck that many drivers feel they can count on over time. That kind of response fits a model known for durability and long-term ownership appeal. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the truck’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained and worn over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Tundra?

At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually well priced. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and overall wear, since accident history can affect both value and future ownership confidence. Focus on the truck’s condition first, then compare equipment and price against similar listings.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.15% compared with last year.

What is the 2017 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $28,647 sits slightly below last year's $28,979.

That modest decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, the current pricing still reflects a truck that holds meaningful value relative to many full-size pickups. If you maintain it well and keep the history clean, you should be in a better position to preserve demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $25,401, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $28,647 average.
• It adds practical updates like an upgraded infotainment system and an integrated brake controller.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better pick if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, owner satisfaction, and shopping inventory. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings useful updates that make it appealing for value-focused buyers.
