How much does the 2017 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 2.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,688 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and conditions.

Is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a truck that owners like for its reliability, strong performance, and value. Review feedback repeatedly highlights its excellent handling, upgraded features, and resale value, while also noting that it can feel pricey and that interior space is a common compromise. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a rugged midsize pickup that works well if you want durability and everyday usability without moving up to a full-size truck. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Review feedback describes it as reliable, durable, and long-lasting, with drivers also calling out its trouble-free ownership experience and strong resale value. That kind of owner sentiment matters for a used truck, because it suggests the Tacoma can be a dependable choice if you keep up with maintenance and avoid neglected examples. Long-term ownership risk is still tied to condition, so a clean service history matters more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Tacoma?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and pay close attention to any prior collision records, title issues, or repeated ownership changes. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on frame, suspension, brakes, and signs of uneven wear, since condition can vary widely across used trucks. Prioritize examples with clear maintenance records and consistent cosmetic and mechanical condition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,688 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,052, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $25,870 sits slightly below last year's $26,417.

That softer pricing can help you buy with less risk of overpaying, but it also means future resale gains may be more gradual than in a rising market. Even so, the Tacoma’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for durability help support demand when you eventually sell. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than trucks with unclear history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,703, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $25,870 average.
• The 2016 emphasizes durability and predictability for buyers who want a proven midsize truck.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the newer model-year pricing context and a broad pool of listings to compare. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one with strong maintenance history and clean condition.
