How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices are up 1.04% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,931 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, comfort, reliability, and ride quality. In practical terms, that lines up with the Corolla’s role as a straightforward compact car that emphasizes everyday usability over flash. The 2017 model also adds standard safety equipment and a fresher front-end design, which helps it feel more complete than a bare-bones commuter.

The market shows 31.7% good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability and a quality ride, and the expert evaluation also points to the Corolla’s practical, durable character. The car’s standard safety and convenience equipment support the sense that it is built for steady daily use rather than constant attention.

Toyota’s standard safety package and the Corolla’s generally simple compact-car formula also point toward manageable ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is finding a car that has been maintained well enough to offset age, mileage, and prior-use wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim being advertised. Because this model year was sold in a wide range of trims, it also pays to confirm which features are actually present before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base trims are well equipped with adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, a reversing camera, and Toyota Safety Sense P, while higher trims add features such as keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, alloy wheels, heated seats, a sunroof, and a larger 7-inch display.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine with a CVT, and the setup is tuned more for efficiency than speed.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.
• Infotainment: Standard Entune includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and higher trims can bring a 7-inch display, HD and satellite radio, and navigation; wireless smartphone integration and OTA capability are not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation cites 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, with a 32 mpg combined rating.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, and 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes the reversing camera, Toyota Safety Sense P, adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and air conditioning. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model’s standard safety and convenience features.
• LE: The LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and extra interior trim, making it the best-value step up for many shoppers.
• LE Eco: This version swaps in 15-inch wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires and efficiency-focused tuning, so it suits you if fuel savings matter more than extra features.
• XLE: The XLE brings alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch Entune Audio Plus system with navigation, so it’s the comfort-oriented pick.
• SE: Toyota’s sport-themed trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a chrome exhaust tip, a black mesh grille, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and paddle shifters with the CVT.
• XSE: The XSE builds on the SE with a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat, making it the most upscale mainstream trim.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition is based on the SE and adds unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, but the base trim still leaves you without some of the comfort and convenience upgrades found higher in the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,931 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.04% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 46.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,136, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,851 sits slightly above last year's $13,707.

That modest increase suggests the Corolla is holding value reasonably well for a compact car in this segment. If you buy one at a fair price and keep it in good condition, you should have a decent chance of recouping a respectable share of your purchase price later. The model’s steady demand also helps support pricing, especially for cleaner examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Marginal result in IIHS small-overlap front-impact testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, which strengthens the Corolla’s everyday safety equipment. The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result, along with the expert critique of braking performance.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.04% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,886, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,851 average.
• It emphasizes fuel economy and cost-effectiveness in a polished, value-focused package.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger safety and equipment story, the 2017 is the better pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 remains the more budget-friendly alternative, especially if you find a clean example with the features you need.
