Is the 2017 Toyota Avalon a good car?

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Avalon?

At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and prioritize cars with clean records. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and any evidence that repairs were not completed carefully.

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer's-market discount.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 276 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

What is the 2017 Toyota Avalon's resale value?

The current average of $18,501 sits slightly below last year's $18,561.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you're planning to sell later. A steady price trend can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should be in a reasonable position when it's time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $16,811, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $18,501 average.
• The 2016 offers a refreshed design and updated features.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a stable market, strong owner satisfaction, and a decent chance of finding a fair deal. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the better value-focused alternative.
