Is the 2017 Tesla Model X a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, technology, and luxurious feel, and many also like its spaciousness and smooth drive. The overview also frames it as a family-oriented electric SUV with two- and three-row seating, so it fits well if you want a distinctive EV with room for passengers. With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Tesla Model X reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights a dependable ownership experience centered on performance, technology, and a smooth drive, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. That said, used buyers should still think carefully about long-term ownership risk because premium EV components and repair exposure can matter more as mileage and age increase.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Tesla Model X?

At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put a pre-purchase inspection near the top of your checklist, with extra attention on body alignment, door operation, and overall condition. Because this model is known for premium features and complex hardware, you want to focus on how well everything works rather than just the odometer reading.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Tesla Model X?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 399 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,142, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Tesla Model X's resale value?

The current average of $23,801 sits slightly below last year's $24,884.

That softer pricing can help you buy more efficiently now, but it also suggests future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays competitive. If you plan to resell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially for a premium EV where buyers tend to compare carefully. A well-kept example should hold up better than one with visible wear or a questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the Model X’s distinctive design, family-friendly layout, and highly rated ownership experience at a softer price point. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a slightly older or newer example gives you a better mix of condition, history, and value.
