At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Because this model has a reputation for build-quality concerns, condition matters more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Tesla Model X?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 255 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,368, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Tesla Model X's resale value?

The current average of $22,632 sits slightly below last year's $24,324.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale a little more competitive if you buy at the wrong price. If you pay close to the current average, you may have less room to absorb depreciation later. On the other hand, buying near the low end of the range can help protect your position if you decide to sell down the road.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2016 if you want the strongest value from this model year and are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a different year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 remains appealing when you find a clean example at the right price.
