Used 2017 Subaru Legacy for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2017 Subaru Legacy cost?

Prices have softened 3.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 588 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating, and owners consistently praise the all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, and high safety ratings. They also highlight the comfortable interior and user-friendly technology, which fits this model’s role as a practical midsize sedan for everyday driving. If you want a sedan that emphasizes confidence in poor weather, comfort, and useful features over flash, this one lines up well. With 28.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, and a trouble-free feel that helps buyers count on it for daily use. The comfort and user-friendly technology also suggest a car that holds up well as a long-term commuter or family sedan. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for properly, since condition matters more when you’re shopping a higher-mileage sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for body condition, signs of past repairs, and overall wear that could affect long-term ownership. Because this model is often chosen for practicality and all-weather confidence, you’ll want to focus on examples that still feel solid, well maintained, and consistent with the car’s reputation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 588 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,271, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $13,019 sits slightly below last year's $13,435.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless you choose a particularly clean, well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially because buyers tend to respond well to cars with strong ownership satisfaction. A well-maintained Legacy should still hold appeal thanks to its practical all-wheel-drive setup and broad everyday usefulness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the Legacy’s core strengths at a price that has already softened, especially if you value all-wheel drive, comfort, and user-friendly tech. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains the better pick when you want a balanced mix of value, owner satisfaction, and market availability.
