Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for bodywork, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that can hint at past repairs. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since the best used examples will usually be the ones that have been cared for consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find a fair deal.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2017 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $12,929 sits slightly below last year's $12,974.

That small decline suggests the Legacy has been holding value in a fairly stable way rather than swinging sharply up or down. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern can be helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden drop. The model’s strong owner satisfaction should also help keep interest steady when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right pick if you want a used Legacy with stable pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and the core appeal of standard all-wheel drive. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar equipment and condition.

How does the 2017 Subaru Legacy compare to the 2017 Honda Accord?

The Legacy is the lower-priced used option here, while the Accord brings more power, slightly better fuel economy, and a much larger pool of listings. If you want standard all-wheel drive and a lower entry price, the Legacy has the edge; if you want more selection and a stronger performance-and-efficiency balance, the Accord is the more expansive shopping target.
