How much does the 2017 Subaru Legacy cost?

There are 626 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, and high safety ratings, and they also highlight the comfortable interior and user-friendly technology. That makes it a strong fit if you want a practical midsize sedan with standard all-wheel drive and everyday comfort rather than flash. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, dependable sedan that many drivers feel comfortable counting on for daily use. Praise for all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, and comfort suggests the car’s strengths hold up well in regular ownership. For used buyers, that kind of satisfaction lowers the sense of long-term ownership risk, especially if the specific car has been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, since accident history can affect both condition and resale value. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your checklist so you can evaluate the body, suspension, electronics, and interior wear in person. Focus on overall condition first, because a clean-looking listing can still hide repair history or deferred maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 626 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,270, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $12,905 sits slightly below last year's $13,104.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your future value. The model’s broad owner satisfaction also supports steady demand from shoppers who want standard all-wheel drive and a practical sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a well-liked Legacy with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If your priority is maximizing value, the 2017 is a sensible target; if you want to shop even more aggressively on price, a nearby year with a lower asking price may be worth comparing, but you should still prioritize condition and history over the model year alone.
