How much does the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 5.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,581 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5 is a strong user rating, and it lines up with the Crosstrek’s appeal as a practical compact crossover. Owners consistently praise the safety features, smooth handling, and comfortable ride, while also highlighting reliability and fuel efficiency. That makes it a strong fit if you want everyday usefulness, all-weather confidence, and a small crossover that is easy to live with. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback specifically points to reliability, and many drivers describe it as dependable for everyday use. The same reviews also emphasize fuel efficiency and a trouble-free ownership experience, which are encouraging signs if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure a specific example has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with past damage. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, suspension, and interior condition, since those areas can reveal how the car was treated. It also helps to focus on maintenance records and overall wear, because a well-kept Crosstrek is more likely to deliver the dependable ownership experience shoppers want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,581 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,719, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $13,739 sits slightly below last year's $14,563.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market strengthens. If you sell later, a well-kept example with strong condition and clean history should hold up better than one with visible wear or prior damage. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and practical reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,554, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,739 average.
• It adds useful safety tech and a fresher look.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,835, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $13,739 average.
• It brings a full redesign with a more refined take on the formula.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best all-around choice if you want strong owner satisfaction, decent deal availability, and a lower price than newer alternatives. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2016 is the smarter value play; if you want the newer redesign and can spend more, the 2018 is the upgrade path.
