Anybody have a radio/entertainment failure on their 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. Radio cannot be turned on and the screen shows “check SD Memory Card”. See owners manual in detail.

With all-wheel drive (AWD) and high ground clearance, the Subaru Crosstrek falls somewhere between a compact hatchback and a crossover. It’s a popular choice in snowy climates—especially for those who want better fuel economy and maneuverability than a large SUV can offer.
Formerly badged as an “XV,” the Crosstrek carries into 2017 with a few notable changes, including minor price increases, a new Special Edition trim, and the elimination of the Crosstrek Hybrid. That’s no great loss—the Hybrid boosted the Crosstrek’s already satisfactory fuel economy by just 4 mpg city and 2 combined, with identical highway mileage. By comparison, the Toyota RAV4 hybrid boasts an increase of 11 mpg city and 6 combined over the standard RAV4.
All 2017 Crosstrek models feature AWD and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine—so named because its horizontally opposed pistons are arranged like the gloves of two boxers in the ring. It produces 148 hp at 6,200 rpm and 145 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.
The entry-level Crosstrek 2.0i now starts at $21,695 before the destination charge—up from $21,595 for the 2016 version. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, black cloth upholstery, and a Starlink infotainment system, and it receives an EPA rating of 23 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined. Although the base vehicle has only four speakers, it does feature a 6.2-inch touchscreen, a rear-view camera, and some smartphone app integration—but not Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Also absent are add-ons like an automatic transmission, a moonroof, and Subaru’s EyeSight active safety system. In fact, there are virtually no available options except some dealer-installed ones, like an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and extra body trim.
Step up to the Crosstrek 2.0i Premium (MSRP starting at $22,495), and you get heated front seats and side mirrors plus some interior trim upgrades. The Premium comes standard with a 5-speed manual, but if you choose to upgrade to Subaru’s Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) for $1,000, you can add options like EyeSight ($1,995, bundled with an upgraded audio system) and a moonroof ($1,000). All Crosstreks with the CVT are EPA rated at 26, 33, and 29.
New for 2017 is the Crosstrek Special Edition (MSRP $25,795), which sits between a well-optioned Premium and medium-trim Limited. It comes in two exterior colors—Pure Red and Crystal Black Silica—and features extras like push-button start and keyless entry, blind-spot detection, and satellite radio. The Special Edition also includes sporty upgrades like black exterior and interior trim, dark gray wheels, aluminum pedals, black cloth seating with red stitching, and red footwell lighting.
The top-of-the-line Crosstrek is still the 2.0i Limited, which starts at $25,195. It comes standard with an automatic transmission, leather-trimmed seating, and an upgraded 7-inch infotainment system. Other niceties are side-view mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear-seat armrest with cupholders, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, and an instrument cluster with a color LCD display. Options include EyeSight, navigation, a push-button ignition, and a moonroof—which come bundled as a package for an additional $2,895.

The car is very new for me, and Ive driven only about 250 miles so far, but so far I am happy because the car is both capable and has some personality. Mine is crystal white with black leather interior and I love the appearance. It makes me feel happy to walk up to it in the parking lot because it is really cute, and the interior is also attractive. The orange stitching on the seats give the interior a little style; the navigation is bright and clear; and the moonroof keeps it feeling open and airy inside; and the interior is overall logical. The handling is excellent. Ive driven in snow on roads where some cars are sliding and my car was driving along just fine. I havent had issues with acceleration and have been driving 65 mph on the highway without problems. The gas mileage seems quite good and the gas tank seems to be big enough as I still have half a tank of gas after going about 250 miles. The Eyesight and other safety features also give me a feeling of security. Visibility is also great. There are just a few negatives that Ive noticed so far. The biggest negative Ive noticed is that the bottom cushion of the drivers seat is too hard. The back of the seat and headrest are actually very comfortable so its really just the bottom. I also wish that the seat could be adjusted electrically instead of manually. The other thing that I would change is the placement of the buttons for the seat warmers. When driving, I have to reach behind and feel around to try to find it or look back for it. Other than the padding in the bottom of the seat, the lack of electric adjustment to the seat and the placement of the heat seater button, I really am happy with this beautiful and capable car. 7/6/17 Update: I continue to be very happy with my car. I love driving it. I like the adaptive cruise control on the highway as well as the little beeper that lets me know if the car in front of me moves when waiting at a traffic light for a while. The seats even became much more comfortable after a few months of use. I have, however, had a few issues with the connection to Audible on my iphone dropping and I really dont know why this happens. Overall, though, very happy with my car and would buy the exact same car if I were to do it again!Apr 19, 2023

Love it so far. It seems almost intuitive and everything is easy to reach. Very powerful for a four cylinder... sprinting up hill in fifth gear is impressive to say the least. I also like that Im not climbing down or up into and out of it. Just a lateral move in and out. The seats seemed a little too firm at first but are very comfortable for long drives. So far so good! Does navigation come standard on all 2017subaru Crosstreks? I can't pull up maps
I can't seem to find the navigation in my 2017 Subaru Crosstrek... I see the Starlink app with the weather and I heart radio but nothing about maps.. I've installed the magellan app but Its also not downloading the update (but idk if that's even the right app)... I find no way to add apps to the Starlink app . I've seen videos and read the manual but it says press the maps in button which I don't have. Pandora and other apps work fine. It would be very strange if it has all these apps but no navigation... I'm sure I'm just doing something Wrong... Plz help thank you...
