At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Because this model year can attract shoppers for its styling and equipment, it is worth prioritizing condition over cosmetics alone.

What is the 2017 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $12,776 sits slightly below last year's $14,184.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is documented. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers still respond to the Maxima’s style and feature content.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,715, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,776 average.
• It leans heavily on styling, with owner praise centered on comfort, handling, and interior space.

The 2017 is the better all-around pick if you want the stronger value balance of features, owner satisfaction, and current market pricing. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2016 is the more price-sensitive alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
