Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

At the same time, the review summary includes concerns about reliability and quality, including reports of breakdowns and repairs. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously, especially if you do not have clear maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear or poor repair work. Because some listings have incident history, a careful pre-purchase inspection can help you avoid buying a vehicle with hidden issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,452, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $11,452 sits slightly below last year's $12,392.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests resale upside may be more limited than in a rising market. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot because buyers will likely compare your vehicle against a wide pool of similarly priced listings. A clean history and strong presentation can help you stand out when it is time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,167, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $11,452 average.
• It emphasizes impressive capability at a reasonable price.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market context and a well-liked ownership experience. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value-focused alternative.
