How much does the 2017 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Is the 2017 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.36/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its dependability, affordability, and smooth driving experience, and many also like the good gas mileage and overall value for the price. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan that delivers a lot of features for the money. With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights dependability and a trouble-free feel for many owners, along with confidence in the car’s long-term value. At the same time, some drivers mention concerns about engine reliability in higher-mileage vehicles, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and condition before you buy. For used shoppers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose carefully, but it is worth being selective.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Hyundai Sonata?

At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize any signs of prior collision repair or inconsistent maintenance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important here, since condition can vary widely from one listing to another. Focus on service records, engine behavior, and overall wear so you can separate the cleaner examples from the riskier ones.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,499 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $10,058 sits slightly below last year's $10,403.

That softer pricing suggests the Sonata is still accessible on the used market, but it also means future sellers may not see strong appreciation. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you can help protect value, but the recent trend points more toward steady depreciation than a strong rebound. Clean history and strong maintenance records should matter more if you want to preserve resale appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,303, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $10,058 average.
• It is a well-rounded, competent sedan with strong everyday value.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $11,893, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $10,058 average.
• It adds a broader range of powertrains and a more updated, feature-rich package.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and available inventory, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2016 is the better value play. If you want a newer-feeling alternative and are willing to pay more, the 2018 is the stronger upgrade path.
