Great value for the money. Practical but has all the safety and phone features we wanted. I also looked at Mazda 3 and the Corolla; this is better looking. Bigger on the inside than I expected. The 2.0 liter is not very fast, but adequate with good gas mileage.

2017 Honda Civic Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2017 Honda Civic prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2017 Honda Civic cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,458 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,858.97 |
| Year-Round High | $15,924.68 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,793 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.13% |
Prices have softened 2.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,670 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $14,858.97, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2017 Honda Civic a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, great gas mileage, and enjoyable features, and they also highlight its impressive handling and spacious interior. That makes it a practical fit if you want a daily driver that balances efficiency with comfort and value. With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2017 Honda Civic reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, dependable day-to-day use, and trouble-free ownership, with many drivers saying it feels like a car you can count on over the long term. Those themes matter for used buyers because they suggest the Civic has a reputation for holding up well in regular commuting and family use. For you, that lowers the odds of unpleasant surprises, though a careful inspection still matters on any used example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Civic?
At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your attention on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of inconsistent wear so you can avoid paying clean-car money for a car with a complicated past.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Civic?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,670 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.13% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 49.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,858.97, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Honda Civic's resale value?
The current average of $15,458 sits slightly below last year's $15,793.
That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. The Civic's strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal should help support demand, especially if you keep mileage, condition, and maintenance history in good shape. If you buy well now and maintain the car consistently, you improve your odds of getting a stronger resale outcome later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Honda Civic or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,124, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,458 average.
- It offers a refined design with upgraded materials and a more user-friendly cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2017 is the better primary target. If your budget is tighter and you want to spend less up front, the 2016 is the smarter secondary path.
