How much does the 2017 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 2.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,432 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Honda CR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, and strong mix of features for the price. The review summary also highlights the safety features and reliability associated with the Honda name, which fits the CR-V’s role as a practical compact crossover for families and individuals alike. With the overview framing it as a strong all-around package, you’re looking at a model that leans hard into everyday usefulness rather than flash. The market also shows 33.9% good and great deals, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing listings.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to reliability, and the expert write-up reinforces that this CR-V is built around dependable, cost-effective transportation. It also describes the model as a vehicle that can provide years of practical ownership, with a long history of reliability and value retention supporting that view. Honda’s cost-effectiveness commentary adds that the CR-V is designed to deliver affordable transportation over the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the concept of the vehicle and more about making sure a specific example has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake feel, and any electrical or infotainment quirks mentioned by the seller. Because the model is praised for value and practicality, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-kept CR-V is the one most likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the base trim, while the EX, EX-L, and Touring add more equipment; the more expensive trims come with the turbocharged engine, and the Touring is the most premium version. The base LX also misses some of the convenience and safety content found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The base model uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower, while the other trims get a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder with 190 horsepower and better fuel economy. The turbo engine delivers power lower in the rev range and across a broader band, though the write-up notes some turbo lag and CVT drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all CR-Vs except the base LX trims. It includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning, a reversing camera with multiple camera angles and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. The Driver Attention Monitor is included in EX, EX-L, and Touring trims.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth calling and music streaming, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging support, and HondaLink features. Higher trims can add embedded navigation and a 320-watt premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert write-up says the turbocharged engine provides better fuel economy, and it cites 26.1 mpg on a test loop. It also notes that an AWD CR-V should return 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2017 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned CR-V. It gets the core practicality of the model, but you give up some of the richer equipment and safety content found on higher trims.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more of the features people actually want without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It also brings the turbocharged engine and more of the convenience and safety equipment that make the CR-V feel fully modern.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for extra comfort and refinement. It builds on the EX formula with a more premium feel and is a good fit if you care about interior quality as much as utility.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, and it suits you if you want the most premium CR-V experience. It layers on the top-end equipment and the strongest sense of refinement in the lineup.

Honda Sensing is standard on all CR-Vs except the base LX trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and disciplined.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,432 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,852, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $17,282 sits slightly below last year's $17,634.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now and may also shape what you can expect later if you sell. If prices remain stable, a well-kept CR-V should still appeal to shoppers who want a practical, efficient compact crossover with a strong reputation. The model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it’s your turn to list it. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V safe?

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it’s standard on all CR-Vs except the base LX trims. The system includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, and a reversing camera with multiple camera angles and rear cross-traffic alert. The expert write-up also notes that the forward-collision warning can be a little overactive in traffic, and the lane-departure warning produced one false alert during testing. Crash-test ratings were not available in the source text.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says this redesigned CR-V is a vehicle of substance and unconventional beauty, and it goes so far as to say you should buy one.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right pick if you want the redesigned CR-V’s stronger all-around package, modern safety tech, and solid value in today’s market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare it with nearby years, but this one stands out as a well-rounded choice when condition and history check out.
