How much does the 2017 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,394 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Honda CR-V earns a 4.65/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, and strong mix of features for the price. The review summary also highlights the safety features and reliability associated with Honda, which fits the CR-V’s role as a practical compact crossover for families and individuals. In context, the redesigned model is positioned as a strong all-around package with broad everyday appeal.

With 34.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a value-oriented example.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability as one of the CR-V’s core strengths, alongside its reputation for being a dependable, trouble-free choice over time. The expert review also emphasizes the model’s long history of reliability and its ability to provide cost-effective transportation for years to come. That said, some owners mention a few technical issues on certain trims, so a careful used-car inspection still matters.

If you’re buying used, focus on service history and make sure any trim-specific electronics or convenience features work as expected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment to check. Pay close attention to overall condition, since the best used CR-Vs should feel clean, well maintained, and free of lingering electrical or trim-specific issues.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the simplest version, while the EX, EX-L, and Touring add more equipment and a more premium cabin feel. The higher trims are the better fit if you want a more upscale interior and more convenience features.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, while the other trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder that delivers stronger low-rev response and better fuel economy.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all trims except the base LX, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. The EX, EX-L, and Touring also add a Driver Attention Monitor.
• Infotainment: The 7-inch HondaLink touchscreen includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims except the LX, along with Bluetooth, text-messaging support, and available navigation and premium audio upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged engine is described as more efficient than the base engine, and the AWD version is cited at 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2017 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the redesigned CR-V, but it misses out on the HondaLink touchscreen setup and the Honda Sensing suite that come on the higher trims. It makes sense if your priority is getting the lowest entry price and you can live with the simpler equipment list.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the turbocharged engine, HondaLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Honda Sensing safety suite. If you want the strongest mix of features, safety, and everyday usability, this is the trim to target first.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin than the EX, since it adds the leather-equipped interior while keeping the same core strengths. It suits you best if comfort and a more premium feel matter more than saving every dollar.
• Touring: This is the top trim and the most fully equipped version, with the most premium presentation and available upgrades such as embedded navigation and a premium sound system. It’s the right pick if you want the most feature-rich CR-V and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims except the base LX, so that trim-level gap is worth keeping in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,394 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,853, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $17,363 sits slightly below last year's $17,716.

That modest decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the CR-V’s strong reputation for practicality and value helps support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and maintain it well, it should remain appealing to future shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2017 Honda CR-V earns an 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. Blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera with multiple camera angles are also highlighted, though Honda Sensing is not standard on the base LX trim.

The review notes that crash-test ratings were not yet available at the time of publication, so the safety case here rests more on the expert score and the breadth of standard and available driver-assistance tech than on published test results.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned model is described as a strong all-around package with standout safety and broad everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right choice if you want the redesigned CR-V’s stronger all-around package, excellent owner satisfaction, and solid market availability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully for a lower-mileage or cleaner-history example, but the 2017 already gives you a compelling mix of value, safety, and practicality.
