Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out because it takes the familiar Accord formula and applies it to a hybrid setup without abandoning the car’s more conventional character. Honda’s own description frames it as the better Accord, and the car’s layout is said to make it handle more like an upscale car while also giving it more attractive styling. That combination gives it a different appeal from a typical hybrid: it aims to feel like a comfortable, polished sedan first and an efficiency-focused model second.
That personality carries through in the driving and cabin experience. The Accord Hybrid is described as having a super comfortable ride and an upscale interior, which makes it easy to see why it would appeal to buyers who want a refined daily driver. At the same time, Honda’s infotainment system is called infuriating, so the car is not without frustration. Owner feedback also points to a smooth driving experience, excellent gas mileage, and a quiet ride, while some owners report reliability concerns involving battery and electrical issues, along with complaints about power in hybrid modes.

I bought the base and am happy I did. Simple analog entertainment system with no problems. Cloth seats wear well. Made in Japan this year and the quality and detail shows. Spacious mid size borders on full size . No folding back seat might be a deal breaker but I have second car for trips. Sold slowly at the time many buyers got 20-25% off very rare for Honda. Michelin that came with it got 35000 mi bought Conti's 5% drop in mpg but 70000mi + Max mpg in summer in hilly areas between 45- 65 mph with no ac but plenty of air flow. I like the safety sensing but wife turns it off. Test drove other hybrids but lack the refinement to be an apex commuter

Very well built, economical vehicle. Occasionally get over 700 miles on a tank of gas. Love the B transmission mode, which limits lot of the braking in city driving. This feature must be frequently reset for use in models after 2017, making it now less convenient to use. In newer models I miss the the transmission lever--not a fan of push button transmission control. In my 2017 model I wish the cruise control did not switch off below 45 mph.

How much does the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,060 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,624 |
| Year-Round High | $17,316 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,237 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.09% |
Prices have softened 1.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 174 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid a good car?
Generally — the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid earns 4.4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the smooth driving experience, excellent gas mileage, comfortable interior, quiet ride, and strong performance. The Accord Hybrid’s appeal is strongest if you want a refined daily driver that feels more like a polished sedan than a typical efficiency-first hybrid.
That fits the car’s overall mission well: it is positioned as a comfortable, upscale-feeling midsize sedan with hybrid efficiency layered on top. 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many shoppers, with praise centered on smooth driving, excellent gas mileage, and a comfortable cabin that encourages long-term use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Accord Hybrid’s refined, polished character and its strong fuel economy, which supports the case for steady everyday dependability.
Honda also equips every Accord Hybrid with a broad standard safety suite, which adds to the sense that the car is built for consistent daily use. Still, some owners report battery and electrical issues, along with complaints about power in hybrid modes, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and how the hybrid system behaves on a test drive.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid?
At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident history or signs of electrical or hybrid-system concerns. Focus on how the car drives, whether the hybrid transition feels smooth, and whether the cabin electronics and charging-related systems behave normally. Condition matters here because the model’s appeal depends heavily on refinement, comfort, and trouble-free daily use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base Hybrid comes standard with remote start, woodgrain interior trim, a reversing camera, heated/power-folding side-view mirrors, Bluetooth hands-free calling and streaming audio, and USB input. The EX-L adds leather seating, the HondaLink touchscreen system, a 360-watt premium sound system with subwoofer, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, HD Radio, and a power moonroof. The Touring adds rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a satellite-linked navigation system.
- Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack for 212 total horsepower. It is tuned for smooth acceleration and strong efficiency, with 49 mpg city and 47 mpg highway.
- Safety package: Every Accord Hybrid includes Honda Sensing, which brings lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and road-departure mitigation. Standard safety equipment also includes a full array of airbags, stability assist, anti-lock braking, tire pressure monitoring, side-impact door beams, and LATCH child seat tethering.
- Infotainment: HondaLink uses a touchscreen system with voice control, but the interface is described as confusing and it lacks a volume knob. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the EX-L and Touring trims.
- Fuel efficiency: The Accord Hybrid returns 49 mpg city, 47 mpg highway, and 48 mpg combined.
Which 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Base Hybrid, EX-L, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base Hybrid: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Accord Hybrid’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get remote start, a reversing camera, heated/power-folding mirrors, Bluetooth, USB input, and the standard safety suite, so it covers the essentials well.
- EX-L: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds leather seating, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a premium 360-watt sound system, HD Radio, and a power moonroof. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and tech, this is the trim to target.
- Touring: This is the pick if you want the most equipment, including rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and satellite-linked navigation. It makes sense if you want the most fully equipped version and are willing to pay for it.
Every trim includes Honda Sensing, so you do not need to move up the lineup to get the core driver-assistance package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 174 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.09% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 51.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,624, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $16,060 sits slightly below last year's $16,237.
That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the current pricing trend implies that resale value may remain steady rather than surge, so condition and mileage will matter a lot when it is time to list the car. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, especially for a model that is known for comfort and fuel economy.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid safe?
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord Hybrid comes standard with Honda Sensing, which includes lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and road-departure mitigation. Standard safety equipment also includes a full array of airbags, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking, tire pressure monitoring, side-impact door beams, and LATCH child seat tethering.
Should I buy a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.09% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2017 model combines a comfortable ride, upscale interior, and strong fuel economy with standard Honda Sensing.
The bottom line: If you want the most polished version of this generation’s Accord Hybrid at a softened used-car price, the 2017 is a sensible buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for the cleanest, best-maintained example and prioritize the EX-L if you want the strongest mix of features and value.
