CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid
overall

Summary
With 19 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,999, 36.8% of 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid 4.44 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
57.9% of 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out because it takes the familiar Accord formula and applies it to a hybrid setup without abandoning the car’s more conventional character. Honda’s own description frames it as the better Accord, and the car’s layout is said to make it handle more like an upscale car while also giving it more attractive styling. That combination gives it a different appeal from a typical hybrid: it aims to feel like a comfortable, polished sedan first and an efficiency-focused model second.
That personality carries through in the driving and cabin experience. The Accord Hybrid is described as having a super comfortable ride and an upscale interior, which makes it easy to see why it would appeal to buyers who want a refined daily driver. At the same time, Honda’s infotainment system is called infuriating, so the car is not without frustration. Owner feedback also points to a smooth driving experience, excellent gas mileage, and a quiet ride, while some owners report reliability concerns involving battery and electrical issues, along with complaints about power in hybrid modes.

I bought the base and am happy I did. Simple analog entertainment system with no problems. Cloth seats wear well. Made in Japan this year and the quality and detail shows. Spacious mid size borders on full size . No folding back seat might be a deal breaker but I have second car for trips. Sold slowly at the time many buyers got 20-25% off very rare for Honda. Michelin that came with it got 35000 mi bought Conti's 5% drop in mpg but 70000mi + Max mpg in summer in hilly areas between 45- 65 mph with no ac but plenty of air flow. I like the safety sensing but wife turns it off. Test drove other hybrids but lack the refinement to be an apex commuter

It is extremely quiet! It rides extremely smooth and the seats are very comfortable. It is worth the extra money for the touring model because of the quiet, comfort and smoothness.

Very well built, economical vehicle. Occasionally get over 700 miles on a tank of gas. Love the B transmission mode, which limits lot of the braking in city driving. This feature must be frequently reset for use in models after 2017, making it now less convenient to use. In newer models I miss the the transmission lever--not a fan of push button transmission control. In my 2017 model I wish the cruise control did not switch off below 45 mph.

Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid a good car?
Generally — 4.44/5 from owners, and 7.5/10 from expert testing. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the smooth driving experience, excellent gas mileage, comfortable interior, and quiet ride. The overview also frames it as a refined daily driver that feels more like a polished sedan than a typical hybrid, which fits the appeal if you want comfort and efficiency in the same package.
With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid reliable?

The expert review also describes the Accord Hybrid as refined and easy to live with, which supports the case for a well-kept example. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that hybrid-system and electrical concerns can be costly if a neglected car has been poorly maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid?
At 55.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the hybrid system behaves smoothly in normal driving. Because owner feedback includes battery and electrical concerns, it’s smart to focus on maintenance history and warning lights.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base Hybrid comes standard with remote start, woodgrain interior trim, a reversing camera, heated/power-folding side-view mirrors, Bluetooth hands-free calling and streaming audio, and USB input. The EX-L adds leather seating, the HondaLink touchscreen system, a 360-watt premium sound system with subwoofer, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, HD Radio, and a power moonroof. The Touring adds rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a satellite-linked navigation system.
- Powertrain: It uses a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack for 212 total horsepower. The setup sends power to the front wheels, delivers smooth acceleration from a stop, and returns 49 mpg city, 47 highway, 48 combined.
- Safety package: Every Accord Hybrid includes Honda Sensing, with lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and road-departure mitigation. Standard safety equipment also includes front and side impact airbags, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking, tire pressure monitoring system, side-impact door beams, and LATCH child seat tethering system.
- Infotainment: HondaLink uses a touchscreen system with voice control, but the interface is described as confusing and lacking a volume knob. The EX-L adds Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, while the Touring adds satellite-linked navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The Accord Hybrid returns 49 mpg city, 47 highway, 48 combined.
Which 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Base Hybrid, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base Hybrid: This is the value play if you want the core hybrid experience without paying for extras. You still get remote start, a reversing camera, heated/power-folding mirrors, Bluetooth, USB input, and the full Honda Sensing safety suite.
- EX-L: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds leather seating, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, a premium sound system, HD Radio, and a power moonroof without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Touring: Choose this if you want the most equipment, including rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and satellite-linked navigation.
Every Accord Hybrid also comes standard with Honda Sensing, which gives you a strong safety baseline across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 176 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.07% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,632, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $16,053 sits slightly below last year's $16,226.
That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, the Accord Hybrid’s reputation for comfort and efficiency should help it remain appealing to future shoppers. The price trend also suggests you should be realistic about appreciation; this is more of a value-retention play than a growth asset.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid safe?
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord Hybrid comes standard with Honda Sensing, which includes lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and road-departure mitigation. Standard passive safety equipment also includes front and side impact airbags, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking, tire pressure monitoring system, side-impact door beams, and LATCH child seat tethering system.
Should I buy a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.07% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The expert review highlights a super comfortable ride, an upscale interior, and excellent fuel economy, though the infotainment system is a clear weak point.
The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a refined, efficient midsize sedan and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If your priority is the best mix of value and equipment, the EX-L is the trim to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a clean Base Hybrid can still make sense as long as the history report and inspection come back clean.
