How much does the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,185 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and many also like the range of features and overall value. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished inside while still serving truck-first needs. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful shopping opportunity if you compare carefully.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers find dependable over time, with praise for its smooth operation and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some owners mention reliability concerns with certain engines, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and powertrain condition. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify the truck’s service record and inspect it carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has had multiple owners or a price that looks unusually low. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the truck drives under load and at highway speeds. Because this model can vary a lot by engine and trim, focus on the specific truck’s condition rather than assuming every example will feel the same.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,571, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,580 sits slightly below last year's $25,027.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for you as a buyer, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than before. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect value against further market cooling. Trucks with broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction tend to hold buyer interest better, especially when they present cleanly and have documented maintenance.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,816, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $22,580 average.
• It adds standard reversing-camera and infotainment equipment.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the better value and are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you want a newer truck with more standard equipment and can stretch your budget, the 2018 is the cleaner upgrade path; if price matters most, the 2017 is the smarter buy.
