How much does the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,147 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.32/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and many also like the range of features and the value it offers versus competitors. The Sierra’s upscale feel and truck-first capability make it appealing if you want a pickup that feels more polished without giving up utility. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.32/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, with praise centered on its power and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some reviews mention reliability concerns with certain engines, so long-term ownership risk is worth evaluating carefully on any used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of past collision work, and how the truck drives and shifts. Because this model can vary a lot by engine and trim, pay close attention to the specific condition of the exact truck you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,147 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,820, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,822 sits slightly below last year's $25,350.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking about future value, the current pricing trend means condition and mileage will matter even more when it’s time to sell. Trucks that present well and have clean histories usually hold buyer interest better than examples with visible wear or accident records.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.32/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $26,110, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $22,822 average.
• It adds standard reversing camera and infotainment equipment.

The 2017 is the better value play if you want a lower entry price and are willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’d rather pay more for extra standard equipment and a slightly newer truck, the 2018 is the cleaner alternative.
