How much does the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,185 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of trucks to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.32/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and many also like the range of features and overall value. For you, that makes it appealing if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished inside while still serving as a capable truck. With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.32/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability-minded positives such as a generally dependable feel, strong day-to-day usability, and a truck that many drivers feel comfortable keeping for the long haul. At the same time, some owners mention reliability issues with certain engines, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and powertrain condition. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify the specific truck’s service record and mechanical health.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has higher mileage, modified equipment, or a complex trim and engine combination. Focus on overall condition, service records, and signs of uneven wear so you can separate a clean, well-kept truck from one that may cost you later.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,717, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,717 sits slightly below last year's $25,218.

That decline suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent market softening, which can help future buyers but may limit near-term upside for you as a seller. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can still protect value better than average. Trucks with broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction tend to stay easier to resell than niche vehicles.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.32/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $26,097, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $22,717 average.
• It adds standard reversing camera and infotainment equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is broad. If you’re willing to pay more for added standard equipment, the 2018 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize convenience over upfront savings.
