How much does the 2017 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 5.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,715 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang a good car?

Generally — the 4.42/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and stylish design, and many also like the range of engine choices, especially the GT and EcoBoost models. For you, that means this Mustang fits best if you want a performance-focused coupe or convertible with broad powertrain variety and a strong enthusiast appeal. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to performance and driving enjoyment. That said, the model’s reputation is tied to careful upkeep, so a well-documented service history matters if you want to reduce the chance of expensive surprises. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is manageable only if you prioritize condition and maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, drivetrain behavior, and signs of deferred maintenance. Because condition matters so much on this model, you should pay close attention to how the car was driven and serviced, not just how it looks in photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,715 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,066, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $20,925 sits slightly below last year's $22,147.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the car is especially clean and well maintained. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot because buyers will compare your car against a fairly active market. A well-kept example should still hold attention, but you should not expect a strong appreciation story from today’s pricing trend.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,647, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $20,925 average.
• It adds updated tech and fresh appearance packages.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $22,361, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $20,925 average.
• It brings more sophisticated mechanical and technological improvements.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best fit if you want a strong mix of price, performance, and market choice. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2016 is the smarter value play; if you want a newer-feeling Mustang and can spend more, the 2018 is the better upgrade path.
