How much does the 2017 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 4.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,705 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Mustang earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and stylish design, and many also like the range of engine choices. If you want a used performance car with broad appeal, the Mustang fits well as a sporty coupe or convertible, depending on how you plan to use it. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights the Mustang as dependable in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts, especially when it comes to performance and driving enjoyment. The model’s reputation is helped by strong owner loyalty, but the reported issues with some EcoBoost models and transmission behavior mean you should pay close attention to maintenance history. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify condition carefully and avoid examples with neglected service.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

At 54.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident or title issues. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has the EcoBoost engine or shows signs of transmission trouble. Focus on service records, signs of wear, and overall condition so you can separate a well-kept Mustang from one that may need expensive catch-up maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,705 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,062, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $20,972 sits slightly below last year's $21,968.

That softer pricing suggests the Mustang is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can narrow a seller’s upside in the short term. Even so, the model’s strong enthusiast appeal and broad recognition help support demand when your car is clean, well maintained, and properly priced. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot in protecting value.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,553, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $20,972 average.
• It adds refreshed styling and updated tech.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $22,408, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $20,972 average.
• It brings more refinement and stronger owner praise for driving enjoyment.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less, the 2016 is the smarter value play; if you want a newer-feeling Mustang and can pay more, the 2018 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2017 Ford Mustang compare to the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

Our experts score the 2017 Ford Mustang 7.8/10 and the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 8.2/10. The Camaro edges ahead on expert scoring and fuel economy, while the Mustang offers more horsepower, a lower average used price, and more listings to choose from. If you want the stronger value and broader shopping pool, the Mustang has the advantage; if you want the slightly higher-rated alternative, the Camaro is the one to compare closely.
