How much does the 2017 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 8.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,844 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Edge earns a 4.43/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, spacious interior, and comfort, and many also like the well-appointed features and smooth ride. The Edge’s practical, family-first setup fits shoppers who want a manageable-size crossover with seating for five, ample cargo room, and useful storage. It is also positioned as a middle-ground choice between the Escape and Explorer, which makes it appealing if you want everyday usefulness without moving up to a larger SUV.

33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to find a strong-value example.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable vehicle with a lot to offer for the price, and many owners describe it as dependable and trouble-free over time. The expert drive notes also emphasize a composed, responsive ride and a solid fit for family use, which supports the impression of an easy vehicle to live with. The available maintenance perk on higher trims can also help reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some listings may have prior mechanical issues or uneven maintenance histories, so condition and service records matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Edge?

At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident or repair history. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs of inconsistent upkeep, since those clues can reveal how the vehicle was treated. If you are comparing multiple examples, the cleanest, best-documented one is usually the safer buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE keeps things simple with cloth seats, a 4.2-inch screen, and basic infotainment, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience. The SEL brings available heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, navigation, and more convenience features, while the Titanium adds leather-trimmed seating, memory settings, a larger audio system, and more upscale equipment. The Sport stands apart with its unique engine and sport-tuned hardware.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, an available 3.5-liter V6 on SEL and Titanium, and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 on the Sport. The base engine is the efficiency-minded choice, while the Sport is the strongest performer and the most responsive option.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Many of these features are reserved for higher trims rather than the base model.
• Infotainment: Base models use Sync with a 4.2-inch color LCD screen, while Sync 3 upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with two USB ports. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included with Sync 3, and available audio upgrades include premium and Sony systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine with front-wheel drive is rated at an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city/29 highway, while the Sport is rated at 17 mpg city/24 highway.

Which 2017 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and the core Edge experience. You get the basic family-friendly layout, standard safety equipment, and the simplest infotainment setup, but you give up many of the comfort and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a strong mix of convenience and comfort features without jumping all the way to the top of the range. The available V6, upgraded seating, Sync 3, navigation, and added driver-assistance options make it the sweet spot for many buyers.
• Titanium: Choose this if you want the most upscale everyday Edge. It adds leather-trimmed seating, memory functions, a better audio system, and more premium-feeling equipment, making it the right pick if comfort and features matter more than price.
• Sport: This is the performance-focused choice, with the most powerful engine, sport-tuned suspension, adaptive steering, and unique styling details. It makes sense if driving enjoyment is your priority and you are willing to pay more for it.

Higher trims are where you’ll find the most safety and convenience equipment, since many of the advanced features are not standard on the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Edge?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a decent deal.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,844 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,092, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $12,092 sits slightly below last year's $13,190.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, a well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should be easier to move than one with accident history or missing service records. The Edge’s broad family appeal helps support demand, especially for shoppers who want a practical midsize crossover.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge safe?

The 2017 Ford Edge earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, with a four-star rollover rating, and the IIHS rates it Good in all crash tests except small front overlap, where it receives an Acceptable rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford offers available safety tech such as lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Some of those features are limited to higher trims, so base-model shoppers may need to move up the range to get the full suite. The lack of front crash-mitigation technology also keeps it from earning the top IIHS designation.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a practical, family-first crossover layout with seating for five, ample cargo room, and useful storage.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,985, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,092 average.
• It emphasizes a more performance-minded character with a twin-turbocharged V6 and a more ambitious personality.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, practicality, and available features, the 2017 is the safer default. If your budget is tighter and you want to save money up front, the 2016 is worth a look, especially if you value its stronger performance focus.
