How much does the 2017 Dodge Charger cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,176 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Dodge Charger earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, stylish design, and blast-to-drive personality. The overview also frames it as a car for you if you want strong presence and everyday usability rather than something that blends into traffic. That makes it especially appealing if you value attitude, style, and driving excitement in a four-door package.

The market also shows 25.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that many drivers find dependable in daily use, with a reputation for being a blast to drive while still delivering a smooth ride. The expert notes also support that sense of durability by describing the Charger as a car with substantial hardware and a strong, confidence-inspiring driving character. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance-focused car can bring higher running costs and more wear if it has been driven hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Dodge Charger?

At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance-oriented equipment or a modified appearance. Pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and any evidence that the car has been driven aggressively. Because this model can attract enthusiastic owners, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Daytona treatment adds SRT-derived design details, a cold-air induction system with a functional hood scoop, heritage-inspired graphics, a Satin Black roof and rear spoiler treatment, wider 20-inch wheels, and interior upgrades. It also adds performance enhancements, so the base car lacks some of that visual and hardware drama.
• Powertrain: A 6.4-liter V8 delivers 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque through an 8-speed automatic with rear-wheel drive, a 3.09 final drive ratio, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
• Safety package: The Driver Confidence Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and HID headlights. Standard equipment also includes a reversing camera and 911 Call through Uconnect Access.
• Infotainment: The Charger uses an 8.4-inch Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, pinch-and-swipe controls, and a free 6-month Uconnect Access trial.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.4-liter V8 is EPA-rated at 15 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.

Which 2017 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2017 Dodge Charger is offered in 2 trim levels: R/T Scat Pack and Daytona 392.

Here's the short version:

• R/T Scat Pack: This is the lower-priced path into the Daytona formula, and it gives you the core V8 performance character without stepping up to the more expensive Daytona 392.
• Daytona 392: This is the better-value choice if you want the full special-edition treatment, including the added styling, interior upgrades, and performance enhancements that define the Daytona package.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Driver Confidence Group adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and HID headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,176 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,188, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $17,748 sits slightly below last year's $17,845.

That small decline suggests the Charger has been holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually points to a market that remains familiar and predictable, which can help you plan your exit timing. If your car is clean, well maintained, and lightly used, it should be easier to position against the broader market than a vehicle with a more volatile price history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Dodge Charger safe?

The Charger earns a four-star and five-star mix of NHTSA ratings across the board, and the IIHS gives it high marks overall with a Marginal result in the small offset frontal-impact test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Charger comes standard with a reversing camera and 911 Call through Uconnect Access, and optional safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The main caveat is the Marginal IIHS result in the small offset frontal test, which is worth weighing if crash protection is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2017 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds new-for-2017 Uconnect 8.4, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a more modern infotainment experience.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,976, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $17,748 average.
• It looks like a satisfying family sedan with more substance than its image suggests.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,755, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $17,748 average.
• It adds broader trim variety, modern tech, and available all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, modern infotainment, and strong personality, the 2017 is the primary path to consider. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2016 is the value play; if you want newer features and broader trim choice, the 2018 is worth the extra money.
