Is the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its space, comfort, and style, and many also like the powerful performance and available all-wheel drive. That fits especially well if you want a family-focused three-row SUV with a usable third row and lots of cargo room. Is the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle many drivers find dependable for everyday family use, especially when it comes to comfort and space. At the same time, used buyers should treat this as a long-term ownership decision and inspect carefully, since age and mileage can increase repair risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, alignment, and signs of past collision work. It also makes sense to pay close attention to interior wear and how well the vehicle’s comfort and convenience features still function.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $10,087, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $10,257 sits slightly below last year's $11,336.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help limit near-term downside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of holding value than someone who pays near the top of the range. Demand should also benefit from the model’s strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,693, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $10,257 average.
• It brings a complete redesign with a roomier, more efficient, and more modern three-row package.

The 2017 makes the most sense if you want the lower purchase price and strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer redesign, the 2018 is the better long-term alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2017 is the more practical path.
