How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD cost?

Prices have softened 1.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 462 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and configurations.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty truck built for serious work, with the kind of towing and payload capability that puts it squarely in the big-league pickup class. Chevrolet also gave it useful technology for its era, including available modern driver-assist features, an 8-inch digital driver display, an 8-inch touchscreen, and later in its first year OnStar with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

It is especially appealing if you want a durable, highly capable truck with real utility and enough tech to make it easier to live with. You also get a roomy, comfortable cabin and a wide range of configurations, including regular, extended, and crew cab body styles with multiple bed lengths.

At the same time, it is not the plushest or most refined option in the class, and its towing and payload ratings are formidable rather than best in class. Even so, the market shows 25.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is presented as a durable, highly capable heavy-duty truck with a strong case for buyers who need serious utility. Its combination of gas and diesel V8 power, a heavy-duty locking rear axle, and broad configuration choices points to a truck designed for demanding use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that heavy-duty trucks often lead hard lives, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone. You should expect to verify how the truck was used and whether it was maintained for towing or other strenuous work.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any truck you are seriously considering and confirm whether it has been used for towing, hauling, or commercial duty. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on frame condition, suspension wear, drivetrain health, and signs of heavy use, since those areas matter most on a truck like this. Pay close attention to overall condition and maintenance records, because a well-kept example is likely to be a better long-term buy than one that simply looks clean in photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 25.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 462 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,433, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $34,725 sits slightly below last year's $35,296.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing suggests you should focus on buying a clean, well-documented truck now so you have the best chance of preserving value later. If you keep the truck in strong condition and avoid overpaying, you should be in a better position when it comes time to trade or sell.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.62% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with serious capability, useful tech, and a broad range of configurations. If your priority is getting the best value, the 2017 makes sense when you can find a clean example near the low end of the price range; if you are more price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby years and focusing on the cleanest truck with the best maintenance history.
