CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Chevrolet Corvette

Summary
With 872 currently listed for sale and an average price of $56,534, 31.1% of 2017 Chevrolet Corvette listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette 4.75 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette stands out as a front-engine sports car that blends serious performance with everyday usability. In the seventh-generation Corvette, Chevrolet gave the car a much more sophisticated look than the previous generation and significantly improved the interior, with nicer materials, a sculpted console, a new infotainment screen, an improved control layout, and a big digital instrument cluster. It also gained more supportive seats, and for 2017 it remained a car that could deliver strong speed while still being relatively easy to live with.
Performance is a major part of the appeal. The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette used a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 rated at 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and Chevrolet offered a seven-speed manual transmission as well as a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic. The car’s aluminum-alloy frame and carbon-fiber floor helped keep it lighter and more rigid, while functional air intakes supported cooling and aerodynamics. Buyers also got a coupe with a removable targa top or a convertible, and the model’s combination of sharp styling, strong acceleration, and value helped make it feel special without the price tag of more exotic sports cars.
There are a few tradeoffs. The 2017 Corvette’s interior was improved, but it still drew criticism for its plasticky feel compared with more upscale rivals, and the car’s practicality was limited by its sports-car packaging. Even so, it remained a compelling choice for shoppers who wanted a fast, distinctive American performance car with real character and a reputation for reliability.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the outstanding performance, eye-catching design, and thrilling handling, while the 2017 Corvette’s blend of serious speed and everyday usability makes it appealing if you want a distinctive sports car that still feels manageable in regular driving. The market also shows 31.9% of listings as good or great deals, which adds some flexibility if you shop carefully.
Is the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with the Corvette’s long-term appeal tied to how well it delivers performance without losing its everyday usability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been cared for properly, since sports-car use can magnify neglect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Corvette?
At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch signs of prior damage or hard use. Focus on condition details that matter most on a sports car, including bodywork quality, tire wear, and evidence of consistent maintenance.

- Price trend: Prices are up 2.71% year-over-year.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette's resale value?
The current average of $56,594 sits slightly above last year's $55,099.
That upward move suggests the market still values this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The relatively tight year-round range also suggests pricing discipline, so clean, well-documented examples should remain easier to move later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.71% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $55,021, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $56,594 average.
- It emphasizes dramatic styling and serious performance.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around value proposition, the 2017 is the better primary target because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a healthy deal pool. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
