CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Chevrolet Corvette
overall

Summary
With 973 currently listed for sale and an average price of $56,670.00, 30.2% of 2016 Chevrolet Corvettes for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette 4.94 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
75.7% of 2016 Corvette models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette stands out as a distinctly American sports car with a blend of futuristic and nostalgic styling, a significantly updated interior, and performance that makes it feel far more expensive than it is. It is presented as the kind of car buyers may wish they had bought while they still could, which speaks to its special-place appeal as much as to its capability.
What makes the 2016 Corvette especially compelling is how much performance it delivers when properly equipped. With optional cooling, adaptive suspension, and bigger brakes, it can seriously play with cars that cost three times as much. That said, the emphasis here is clearly on driving excitement and visual drama, so buyers looking for the Corvette’s strengths will find them in its speed, handling hardware, and attention-grabbing design rather than in a long list of luxury extras.

The C7 is a dramatic improvement over the C6. The interior is much more refined. The handling and acceleration are also much better. Ive owned a C5 and C6, they simply dont compare.

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $56,579 |
| Year-Round Low | $54,073.91 |
| Year-Round High | $57,925.12 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $57,069 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.86% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 962 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $54,073.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette a good car?
Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette earns a 4.94/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its exceptional performance, strong value for money, and sleek design. They also like the modern interior features, which fit the car’s use case as a performance-focused sports car with a more updated cabin than earlier Corvettes.
With its emphasis on driving excitement, visual drama, and serious speed when properly equipped, it makes the most sense if you want a car that feels special rather than merely practical. The market also shows 30.6% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette reliable?
Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels exceptional and worth the money, with recurring praise for its performance and design. That kind of satisfaction usually lines up with a vehicle people feel confident living with over time.
The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Corvette delivers a lot of performance for the money, with a powertrain and chassis combination built to handle serious driving. It also notes that the car can be expensive to keep adding options to, so used buyers should pay close attention to how a specific example was equipped and maintained.
For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is not the core hardware so much as buying a neglected or heavily modified example that has been used hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?
At 74.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or optioned heavily. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence that the car has lived a rough life rather than a careful one.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 1LT is the simplest version, while 2LT adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display. The 3LT adds leather surfaces everywhere, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder.
- Powertrain: The Corvette uses a 6.2-liter pushrod V8 with 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in under 4 seconds, and the 8-speed automatic is described as especially adept at keeping the car in its sweet spot.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes four airbags, side-impact airbags, a protective cell, four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and electronic stability control. Higher trims add front- and rear-facing cameras to help with parking and backing out.
- Infotainment: Dual 8-inch screens anchor the cabin, and Chevrolet MyLink includes phone, audio, and navigation when equipped. Apple CarPlay is included, and Android Auto was to follow later. OnStar is also integrated.
- Fuel efficiency: The V8 uses cylinder deactivation to help with efficiency, but it still expects premium fuel and frequent fill-ups from its 18-gallon tank.
Which 2016 Chevrolet Corvette trim should I buy?
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette is offered in 3 trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 3LT.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The 1LT gives you the core Corvette experience, but it skips the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The 2LT is the best value if you want a more livable cabin, since it adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display.
- Premium/top trim: The 3LT is the most upscale choice, with leather surfaces everywhere, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder as standard.
Higher trims also bring front- and rear-facing cameras, which can be helpful given the Corvette’s limited visibility.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 962 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $54,073.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette's resale value?
The current average of $56,579 sits slightly below last year's $57,069.
That modest decline suggests the Corvette has been holding value fairly well rather than sliding sharply. For you as a future seller, that usually means the market still recognizes the car’s appeal, especially when the example is clean, well-optioned, and properly maintained.
Because the price movement has been small, condition and history will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. A well-kept car should remain easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Corvette has not been rated by either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
It comes standard with four airbags, including side-impact airbags and a protective cell, plus four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and electronic stability control. Higher trims add front- and rear-facing cameras to help with parking and backing out.
The main caveat is visibility: the low-slung body and small windows make it harder to see out of than many cars, so you should be especially careful in tight spaces and busy traffic.
Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The updated interior and strong performance make this year especially appealing if you want the C7 formula with a more modern cabin.
The bottom line: If you want a Corvette that blends standout performance with a significantly improved interior, the 2016 model is a strong choice. If you’re more price-sensitive, focus on clean, well-documented examples and be willing to compare condition closely, since history and equipment level will matter more than small differences in average price.
